Mega millions

Someone in South Carolina just stepped forward to claim the Mega Millions jackpot worth $ 1.5 BILLION dollars....Sadly he or she will ONLY get $ 880 Million. Taxes you know. How will they survive.

We almost won the lottery here once. Got one number wrong and we collected $ 1,750.00 . Since that time Sue buys two tickets every week. I'd like her to stop but she keeps hoping. Better chance of getting hit by a train in our bedroom....AND the train is 15 miles away....

I used to say spending a buck or two on a lottery ticket was buying the legitimate "right" to pipe dream about what I'd do with those many millions of dollars if I won. Then one day I actually sat down and thought about it . . .

:eek:ops1:

Realized I'm way too old to try to deal with that level of complexity. Like a dog chasing a car - what would he do with it if he caught it?? Now I leave the lotteries to the younger folks.

:yawning:

My Son-in-law always complains about having to pay taxes if you win. I had played the lottery for a Million dollars, and I told him if I won I would share it with him and not to worry about paying taxes that I would pay them out of my share. He felt better after I said that, but sadly we didn't win.

Mama and I play the lotto every Wed. and Sat. night which runs us $10.00 per week or $480.00 per year.....we're fully aware that the odds of us winning are practically zero but it's fun to dream.

Wouldn't it be nice ? :).......

Moosehead, the same thing happened to us in New York. One number off of 17 million dollars. Got $1,800 instead.

I've probably spent a couple hundred dollars over my lifetime on lottery tickets and I think the most I've ever won was $5. At least, I'm ahead on slot machines ...

It was 1971 and I was in a little cafe in Valletta, Malta. I don't recall what I'd ordered but when the waitress brought my change it was the equivalent of about ten cents US. There was a slot machine on one wall, so I jokingly told her just to put the change into the machine. It paid off to the tune of about 60 cents US (which I told her to keep). That's the one and only time I ever "played the slots". I doubt there are many people out there who can say that their lifetime track record for playing slot machines has resulted in a net gain.
:lol1:

I play all the time and win a lot, but little bits. My family members play and also win frequently. The lottery doesn't cost me much and I am definitely meant to be wealthy and wouldn't mind paying taxes on millions one little bit. :love_heart:
