Melanie Safka, singer and Woodstock performer Passes Away at 76

In my late teens and early 20's I had so many of her albums. I saw her in concert in Central Park in the early 1970's. Lay Down (Candles in the Rain) was inspired by her Woodstock experience. Rest in Peace sweet lady.

About 5 years ago she appeared on our iconic New year show hosted by the Musician Jool Holland who gives a platform to many bands on that show.. and Melanie performed, and sadly... she didn't sound or look great, and I was concerned for her even then..

Better to remember her music from this at her best ...may she R.I.P

Sorry to hear she has passed. She is one of the first singers I remember liking and all these years later I still like her music.

she was actually a guest on Jools Holland New Years Eve show... that was about 5 years ago..

Saw her at Harvard Stadium in Cambridge MA around 1970 I believe. I'm thinking of doing a "cover" of Lay Down for my You Tube site.
She appeared with Tom Rush. Never get sick of hearing that song!
