Memorable childhood games played with friends

What were your favorite childhood games to play with friends/family/neighborhood kids?

Pick up sticks, tiddlywinks, hopscotch, dodge ball. We also played made up games with dolls where we took care of our babies, cowboys and Indians (not politically correct at ALL!) hide and seek, chase and tag.

Jump rope, hopscotch, jacks, marbles ..
Same ! ....... and most important of all the swing park...

Here's something I didn't realize what my mother was talking about until years later:

We were obsessed for a while with horror movies and the hot pastime one summer was to have our own "Horror House" in the attic and invite all the neighborhood kids to come and be scared.

My mom kept insisting that we call it a "spook house" or a "fright house", but not a "horror house". We couldn't fathom why not....

It was many years later that I realized that with our Hoosier accents, we weren't pronouncing it "HAW-ror" house (with two syllables) but "wh0re" house (with the solitary one).

OKAYYY...there goes the neighborhood.

Funny, the things you remember...

Hide & Seek. They could never find me because I climbed on the garage roof where they couldn't see me.
Yeah, "Hide and Seek" for sure! We'd have about 10 neighborhood kids participating.
Then after awhile when a few couldn't be found, we'd yell, "Allie-Allie-in-come-free" which meant that everyone could come out of hiding and could meet up, that that round was over. And when you got thirsty, you'd drink right outta the garden hose.

One of my personal favorites was "Spin the bottle"...😍
