Michael's is a craft store and is opening a new store in my area. This makes me happy because I do like to browse through craft stores. I make jewelry and I used to make floral wreaths for front doors. Lots of fun stuff for me to find in a craft store. Micheal's is one of the more expensive stores but I can get fresh ideas there and buy the merch somewhere else. Anyway I am very happy for this news because craft stores and yarn shops have been closing down all over so it's heartening to see one open.

Funny reaction. Just seeing the title made me feel like Kal-El exposed to Green Kryptonite. I felt the life being sucked from my being. :ROFLMAO:

Perhaps trauma from the smell of highly-processed eucalyptus sprayed onto the mummified plant parts for sale?

I know, it's probably just a guy thing.

In this area Michael’s is being nudged out by Hobby Lobby.

Generally crafts and craft stores cause me to break out in a rash. 😉🤭😂

I go to Michael’s about once every five years for help with a framing or display project.
Same here. Michael's kind of went down hill here. Hobby lobby and JoAnns have both edged them out.

When someone says "crafts", I imagine getting Xmas presents of knitting tea cozies, or cat warmers, like if you could ever get a cat to wear it. But hey, if you're into that, I guess a Micheals is better than a muffler repair shop in its place.

Michael's here has extremely over-priced merchandise. Unfortunately, at the moment, there is no competition .. giving them reason to keep their prices high.

Nothing like that within 50 (or more) miles from me. Used to go to Hobby Lobby in Florida and Michaels in AZ to keep peace in the family unit, now I'm relieved of that duty. But to each his/her own.

My mind usually jumps to a hunk of overpriced (probably faked in China) driftwood with some pine cones and crap hot-glued onto it with some glitter and a ribbon tied to it all.

That's good for your shopping needs. I'm not a fan of any of the craft stores really. But I will go to them for specific items. A lot of people avoid Hobby Lobby due to their beliefs, but to me, jerks are everywhere I don't know about. So if they have something I want, I'll shop there.

Right now I'm working on a square wreath thingy from found twigs.

You just mentioned several things I do not like, even hate. Crap glued stuff and glitter. I sew and hand sew, so if I'm making something, it's going to be sewn or put together with yarn or string. And PAWS thrift store has had local pine cones for sale around the holidays. I don't buy that stuff from China.

I much prefer JoAnn's also but the two stores close to me are closing down. :sneaky:
