Just received a warning email from my veterinarian's office that those who use SAVE THIS LIFE microchip service have a problem, their chips are no longer valid. When the chips are scanned, the owner's information does NOT come up anymore.
When I got my new pup, they chipped him, and that was the paperwork they gave me to register the chip. I had Home Again with my last dog, I didn't like the way that site looked, so I went with Home Again. Now I'm thankful I did!

A microchip company has abruptly gone out of business, affecting many pet owners.
If your pet has a microchip from the company, called Save This Life, you are urged to re-register your pet’s microchip with another company ASAP.
That’s because if your pet has its Save This Life microchip scanned, owner information and data will no longer pop up. Your pet’s microchip will be untraceable.
- Find your pet’s microchip number. You can check your pet’s adoption papers or medical records to find the number, or have it scanned at a veterinarian’s office or animal shelter.
- Look up the number to see what company it is registered with. You can use the American Animal Hospital Association website here, which will tell you what company the chip is registered with.
- If the chip is registered with Save This Life, re-register it with another company ASAP. Some reputable options include AKC Reunite, PetLink, 24PetWatch, and HomeAgain. Make sure your contact information is up to date.
