Tomlinson announced his retirement to Art Rooney, owner of the Steelers, on January 14. After 19 seasons, Mike has decided to spend more time with his family and will not immediately be seeking another coaching job.

Tomlin was head coach for 19 seasons with zero losing seasons and one Super Bowl win. Tomlin’s announcement to Rooney was a surprise, but not shocked. The Steelers gave Tomlin a pretty darn good separation package, which included paying him his last two season’s salary of $20million per year, a private box to all home games and other perks, but if Mike returns to football before his two years are up, the freebies may all go away.
