Mill-animal Generation?

Well thanks for the lecture but it looks like you missed the points I tried to illustrate for you. People using the "free speech" argument as an excuse to bash various classes of people are not bringing much credibility to the table.

With a bit more careful thought effort a person could focus on and comment about the positive traits of the class in question, be it Millennials, Boomers, the disabled

Oh no!! You are the sole judge deciding this hypothetical case. I want to advertise my porn video site to garner sales. The problem is, the networks will not allow it as I wish to air it during Childrens programming. Would you say it was my free speech or any other right?? Can I do it or can't I, you rule.
Well we have established what is acceptable and unacceptable for those under 18. Cigarettes, booze, porn, etc, we as a society have agreed is not suitable for under 18. That is quite different. I assume we are all over 18 on here? Since it is a senior forum...

Are you new to the internet?? - It is a senior forum and it has terms and conditions, like all internet sites

You read them when you joined, didnt you?

and like all such sites there is not free speech - there are limits placed by those who own the site. Not allowing swearing is a common rule. This forum, like some others, also does not allow politics.
That is the choice of the owners. People wanting to join can decide whether or not they agree with those rules and join, or not, accordingly.

I agree with poster who said most people are positive if you treat them positively. if you look for the best in people you will find it.
If you look for the negative you will find that - but this says more your perception or confirmation bias.

I find that includes most young people - although of course one can find those who are not good - just like one could with any age group.
But they are the exception, not the rule.

This "generation" concept is a pet peeve of mine. It assumes that everyone born between X and Y will ALL have the same characteristics, same values, same hang ups, same view of the world, same goals, etc, etc. It's like saying everyone who was born in 1999 is a die hard Democrat, and everyone born in 1998 is a die hard Republican. There's no way to actually prove Gen X is such and such. This 'generation' stuff is right up there with tarot cards and Big Foot.

But it isn't about individuals at all. These are cohorts by definition, i.e. groups. And the facts bear these categorizations out, which is why they've been useful to demographers for hundreds of years.

Has anyone else feel these labeling of generations is nothing but a marketing or ?? tool. There was not such labeling ever in our entire human history and yet we lived alright. Now we label everything and it only helps create more discontent, separation, strife, and conflicts.

Me thinks we are all alike internally and seek the same thing: security and happiness.

I agree. It's amazing that younger generations are so messed up, not like mine.
