On a similar note, back in 1977 The Clash released the classic punk song White Riot. People who didn't know any better saw the title and assumed that it was a song about White supremacy and there was some backlash against the band. In reality, a couple members of The Clash had seen many black kids in the UK out demonstrating against what was going on in the UK and the song was a rallying cry for the white kids in the UK to go out and join them with the demonstrations.

My mother would relate how when as a child she heard the hymn “Bringing in the Sheaves” thought the lyrics were “Bringing in the Cheese.” She sang at the top of her lungs about bringing the cheese into that church for years. No wonder they came rejoicing…

I misheard it as Bringing in the Sheets.
