Mission Carb Balance Tortillas

These are while flour tortillas which are medium size and have 70 calories in them. Only 4 carbs, FOUR carbs. I love bread, and as a diabetic, I have been searching for a decent bread, cause I LOVE bread. I found these. They replace the bread in my diet. They taste great. Only FOUR carbs. YAY. Didn’t make my blood sugar go up at all.

Has anyone else tried them? They are sold at Costco and a local market in our area.

Haven't seen these but Mission tortillas are sold all around here. Thanks for telling us this. I am not diabetic but four calories? Great! I cook Mexican food a lot! It's my fav! As you, I will replace bread in my diet too! EXCEPT FOR MY HOMEMADE SOURDOUGH!
I will look for them! THANKS!

I will look for these next time I'm at our grocery store. Thanks for the tip! I usually buy the HEB brand (Texas brand, well some parts of Texas). But the last time I bought Mission brand and enjoyed it.

No, 4 carbs, 70 calories, still lower than bread in calories.

I'm not diabetic, but since my weight loss I've still been vigilant about calorie & carb counts. Only 4 carbs is impressive, how do they do that? I have regular Mission flour tortillas in the kitchen, they have....35 grams of carbs...🤨

@Nathan i don’t know how they do it. The whole wheat ones are smaller, have 2 carbs, and only 45 calories. I got a package of those to try as well. I really like the white flour ones though.

I have those tortillas, too. I eat one occasionally.
Details: The 3 gms carbs is "Net Carbs," not "Total Carbs." The label says "18 gms carbs per tortilla. They accomplish the lower net carbs simply by adding 15 gms fiber. Fiber is a non-digestible carb, so they're allowed to say each tortilla has only 3 net carbs. They also add extra gluten, vegetable shortening & Hydrogenated Oils & extra Cellulose Gum. That's why they have a "Gooey" texture & a strange smell & taste.

I did not notice any strange smell or taste, but I am not standing next to you 😂. Mine do not have a gummy texture, or a strange smell, or strange taste. However, my tuna fish salad did not have enough Mayo on it. I did notice that.

I don’t eat them plain, but as bread, and for me they work really well. They satisfy my bread craving. People will have to try them themselves as taste differs from person to person. You might have a different brand than I do as the flour one says 4 carbs and the wheat says 2 carbs.

I read you always subtract the fiber content from the total carb anyway. I have not tried the wheat ones yet and neither has my husband. He prefers wheat, but because I prefer the white flour, true to form, he’s eating those first. 🤦🏻‍♀️ We have already gone through one package. 😊
