Misunderstanding Again

At last week's Bible study, the pastor announced that they were going to have a cake for the Sunday school teacher that was leaving to go to another church. I assumed that he meant like a party style coffee fellowship and they would be serving the cake. Well, come to find out, they just presented her with a cake - no sharing (probably because of COVID), but how would you have interpreted the pastor's statement?

I interpreted it the way the pastor said it. The TEACHER was going to get a cake not everybody with the teacher. If you aren't sure, just ask. I'm sure he wouldn't have minded.

I would have interpreted "We're having a cake for the Sunday school teacher" the same way anyone would interpret a birthday cake. No one presents a birthday cake without everyone having some.
And what is the Covid risk of sharing a cake - unless everyone takes turns licking the knife after cutting the cake?

Well, someone could sneeze on the cake. We picked my son up from the group home, while driving home in our car he sneezed, I said “oh great, now we will all get the virus”. 🤣. His response, what? 🤣

I would've interpreted it the same way. There have been so many changes with this virus. It's just hard to keep up with it all.

I don't think anyone can get Covid from eating something someone sneezed on. Since viruses are respiratory, I think you would have to inhale virus to get it. Digestive acids would destroy any swallowed virus.

Yup that’s what “They say”

I would have been expecting cake and been miffed when I didn't get any.
Really? Why? You’re an adult you can buy and eat all the cake you want. I seriously don’t understand why this is a big deal. I don’t even like cake. It’s frosted flour. 😂

I would have just cut a big piece of the cake, ate it & said, "Thanks, pastor, the cake is delicious. Is there enough for everyone else?"
He would have said, "You take the cake."

I love cake. I am going to my grandchild's birthday today because of cake. I'll be miffed if I gamble getting Covid and there's no cake. Like seeing my grandchildren too.
