Misunderstanding Again

One of the ways the virus is spreading now is in small groups as well as larger ones. I'm sure the pastor did not want to be responsible for an outbreak.

At last week's Bible study, the pastor announced that they were going to have a cake for the Sunday school teacher that was leaving to go to another church. I assumed that he meant like a party style coffee fellowship and they would be serving the cake. Well, come to find out, they just presented her with a cake - no sharing (probably because of COVID), but how would you have interpreted the pastor's statement?
Well now
This is a first
I completely agree with deb on this

I'd have been disappointed

Maybe hang around the cake a bit.....with a knife....and a fork

I would have to hear the exact words the pastor used and the way his statement was made. You assumed he meant a party, but that may not have been his message. You have to always keep in mind during this pandemic that any responsible person, including your pastor, will not want to have a cake party with people in an indoor setting especially.
