I took the MOCA test online and I only got 20 on it. The word recall part is just awful. I know that is mci.
 

I know you can google the test but I don't think you can accurately do it online or test and score yourself

What does mci stand for?

Oh right, yes , mci, I should of worked that out.

Diagnosis would usually be made on CT head scans, MOCA or similar, and geriatrician's discussion with the person, relatives, carers etc about functional and coping life skills as well as ruling out other possible causes, eg infections, anaemia.

I work in a GP surgery- generally we do MOCA as part of initial assessment because a person or their relatives are concerned about their functioning, and it is a pre requisite for geriatrician referrals.

If you can only remember 2. words on a memory test, is that okay?
 
yes, quite common t o only remember 2 of the words - the total score is out of 30 and anything over 25 is considered normal - so if you got 3 of the words wrong and lost 2 other points somewhere else you would still get 25.
 
Oh Lord if I was put on the spot like that I'd have a hard time too. I've always been this way. Ever try to remember something by thinking hard about it?

You have to be relaxed when taking a test like that for something as important as what you describe. I would confess right up front that I'm nervous as hell and it will be a miracle if I remember anything after 5 minutes. They can write that down in their brief.
