Hum....on their way to a lab, they are using helicopters to search for them.... Anyone remember the movie Outbreak?

Another report says they are looking for 3 now as shots were fired. Shots, plural. There were 4 monkeys It didn't say if shot with bullets or tranquilizers. But if with bullets then they are trying to stop something..🤔 poor monkeys.

Police say they are searching for at least three escaped monkeys believed to be on the loose near Danville, Pennsylvania.

Police in Pennsylvania are searching for at least three monkeys that have escaped after a truck carrying about 100 of the animals was involved in a crash.
The truck carrying the monkeys collided with a dump truck on Friday afternoon in Montour county, Pennsylvania state police trooper Andrea Pelachick told the Daily Item. Local news outlet WNEP said the crash happened along Route 54 just off Interstate 80 near Danville.

The truck had been on its way to a laboratory, Pelachick said.
WNEP said four monkeys were on the loose, with authorities using a helicopter in the search. It was not known what type of monkeys were on the truck, but police released a photograph of one of them in a tree.

It was unclear if any people or animals were injured in the crash.

Four monkeys on the loose after crash near Danville

State police and game wardens did find at least one monkey Friday night.

Investigators shared a photo showing one of the monkeys perched high in a tree off of Route 54.

They searched the area near the wreck with flashlights on the freezing cold night and just before 7 p.m., we saw the lights focus heavily on the tree where this monkey was found.

We later heard three shots ring out. It’s unclear what type of weapon was used and we’re not sure where the monkey is or its condition.

We can tell you investigators left the scene at about 9 p.m. a short time after the shots were fired.

There is no word on where the other three monkeys may have gone or their condition.

State police used a helicopter earlier to try to track down the monkeys with thermal cameras.

Keep in mind, temperatures are dipping into the single digits Friday night, which does not bode well for any monkeys still at large.

This is a developing story, please check back for updates.

Oh great....who knows what those monkeys had.. 😥

It must have been something bad otherwise they would have used tranquilizers if monkeys were healthy, but the didn't, they euthanized them.

I also hope it's not anything major and it's not contagious. Time will tell.
I had read Preston's book The Hot Zone years ago, and he was talking
about ebola monkeys, and they were studying them at a facility half hour from my house. This incident reminds me
of that situation. Scary stuff.

What also worries me (I worry easily, haha) is that there might be a scarcity of truck drivers (due to covid, etc), and they're hiring
inexperienced drivers to drive important or possibly dangerous cargo (e.g. dangerous monkeys or nuclear waste) across
the country. If that's the case, we might be hearing of more incidents like this in the future. Just a thought.

And there's going to be a killer snowstorm in a couple of days. Still better than what will happen to them in a lab. Monkeys are too intelligent to be experimented upon.

Woman falls ill after exposure to monkeys at Pennsylvania crash site

After stopping to assist, she was exposed to the animals' feces while helping to clear crates from the roadway

this whole thing is odd and perhaps sketchy.
It's horrible this woman has definite signs of "GOT-ME-A-SHYSTER-ATTORNEY". The only cure for this devastating illness is a big fat settlement.
BTW, it was cold-in the single digits. The monkeys were on the road for many hours in an unheated truck. Even if they do have fur, they live pretty much in warm areas, and aren't found in Antarctica.

I wonder if those monkeys were only for observation and experimentation or were they suspected of being infected with something. 🤔 I hate that animals are experimented on and killed. But ultimately, does it help we humans? The woman should not have assisted in doing anything without wearing protective gloves.

No, it doesn't help humans. It does generate big $$$$$ research grants, however.
Forcing cigarette smoke into animals' lungs to see if tar & nicotine are bad for us?
Scraping off skin & applying sunscreen to see how effective it is?
Dropping ammonia & bleach into eyes to see how much damage is caused?

Drug testing on animals created horror stories - Thalidomide was determined to be safe after animal testing showed that it was.
Animals are different. Rabbits are often used for testing. Rabbits constantly eat wild Deathcap Mushrooms with no effect. They are deadly to humans. Chocolate is toxic to dogs; not to people.

Giving animals diseases for study doesn't benefit people, either. The immune system reacts differently when forcing a disease into an animal, as opposed to getting a disease naturally.

Drug testing on animals to benefit humans is an often-used argument for animal testing.

"There's no guarantee that drugs are safe just because they've been tested on animals. Because of the physiological differences between humans and other animals, results from animal tests cannot be accurately extrapolated to humans, leaving us vulnerable to exposure to drugs that can cause serious side effects."

I wonder if they really posed a danger to humans or if this was another panic fest from our MSM? With the major snowstorm we had hurtling down upon us so fast euthanasia probably was more humane than letting them freeze and starve to death.
