Moorhens Sharing Food

Don't think I've ever seen birds do this, I always saw the assertive birds dominating the food and a couple of shy ones getting little or none.

 

My Dad spent quite a bit of his youth on various family farms and knew animals quite well. Occasionally he would disdainfully term somone a "guinea". Later in life I learned there are birds which look very similar to the ones in the vid, known as "Guinea Hens". imp

I wonder if it's a "family unit". The one that's taking the food from the hand is the mother? And the others are adult offspring? Works that way with humans, y'know....

I was thinking the same thing, jujube. Maybe the mother is missing that internal clock thing that tells you when it's time to shove the chicks out on their own. :lol:
