More And More People Are Finding Themselves Suddenly Homeless! What If You Were One Of Them?

I've lived enough comfortable years not to end it homeless, if I couldn't live in my own place I believe I'd choose to end things. I would not want to be a burden to younger folks. Fortunately, I don't expect to have to make that decision.

Not sure I could do that... ODing on pain killers more my style.
"I don't expect to have to make that decision." That's one of the points of this thread....people who never expected to have to make that decision wound up having to do so. And don't you be offing yourself if, God forbid, you are faced with devastation. What would be do around here without you?!

If I had to vacate my condo my homeowners insurance would pay for a motel room. This happened to a friend of mine who was in a fire. I could also move in with my best friend because she has a big house and we are very close.

My kid’s apartment is too small to move in with them. In an evacuation situation I would just worry about getting my dogs out. Everything else is just stuff.

It really depends on the reason for being homeless. If it’s a natural disaster, it’s the same as these comments.

my attachment to inanimate objects is minimal.

Everything else is just stuff.
If you’re just about to lose every material item, they all will become meaningless. When running from our home as a fire could have wiped out our whole complex, absolutely nothing in our home had any meaning. We were fine. Some neighbours lost every single thing. You never really know what is valuable until those last few minutes. That’s when reality kicks in.
