More bad news from Ukraine

This just makes the world hate Putin & Russia all the more. Putin thinks it okay to launch drones into Ukraine and kill people, but it's a crime if Ukraine does the same to his country. You attack a country, you have to expect retaliation. They won't just sit and take it. Putin just might be the biggest war criminal and monster since Hitler.
 
I do regard this as another world war - whatever name it is given. The rest of the West with Ukraine against Russia and whoever is supporting them either in weapons ; advice ; internet monitoring etc. China clearly does not to have great involvement but does maintain some meetings with Putin and certainly advice and possibly undercover - mechanisms? North Korea seems poised?? whilst the rest of the world watches but gets on with its own problems like Turkey and Syria and Iran?

Vladimir Putin is facing a growing threat of a coup from the fearsome Wagner mercenary army and anti-Kremlin rebellions on the border regions of Russia, the despot's former supporters have said.

Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin is acting with unidentified figures within Putin's circle in a bid to oust the dictator, war analyst Igor Strelkov, ex-defence minister of Donetsk People's Republic, claimed.

Strelkov said that now that the Wagner army is pulling out of the war zone around the Ukrainian city of Bakhmut, the mercenaries could be used as military muscle to oust Putin.

Meanwhile, former Putin speechwriter Abbas Gallyamov forecast a revolution starting not in Moscow but on the edge of Putin's sprawling empire in regions bordering Ukraine that are falling to anti-Kremlin groups.
 
China is looking out for China. What else is new?

If Russia did fracture, not likely IMO, I suspect China would move north rapidly in order to secure more natural resources for its plans. In the long run China is a far bigger threat to Russia than the West. Putin needs to wake up.
 
I'm not considering this another world war yet, but it has the potential to become one and there's a fuzzy line between support from the west and actual world war. I hope the current Russian Regime just collapses, and a replacement has a better idea about how do use its human resources for positive outcomes. Of course, I feel edgy about a collapse of the current leadership in Russia, because I don't know how suicidal they will be when facing failure. If they start releasing nukes, they can create a lot more mischief. If their nuclear deterrant is in as bad shape as the rest of their military equipment, and there is no reason for me to think otherwise, then no matter how much damage they do, nothing of Russia will remain. They certainly can't expect the US and most of Europe to just sit there and let them take whatever they want. That's even crazier than invading Ukraine was in the first place.

Yes, but I don't see that happening. I think his ego and struggle to stay in power are much more important to him than the future of Russia.

I believe China's lukewarm support of Russia on this is in part to draw attention away from the Chinese threats. And in part to keep Putin in power, ultimately weakening Russia.
 
This week on the NBC Today Show, they have been showcasing Russian Mercenaries that have taken over an Central African village’s mining operation, leaving the citizens impoverished, and using the gold and silver to finance their war on Ukraine. I see that as one more war crime against the Russians.
 
IMO, any country with the same leader for over 12 years is probably headed downhill. These leaders tend to believe what is good for them must be good for the country. Turkey thrived under the first years of the current leader. Now? it's going backwards.
 
Russia has for the most part destroyed the interior of Ukraine. Ukraine U.S. winning the war with the number if soldiers list on both sides. The U.S. is against Ukraine shooting into Russia. Doing that and causing any large amounts of damage would escalate the war even more, but how far, we do not know.

‘What bothers me the most is the money we keep handing over to Ukraine and asking for no accountability is a problem. We did the same thing in Afghanistan and their fake president left the country with a truckload of our money. What gave we learned? Nothing. And, let’s look at this war in reality. The U.S. is indeed at watt with Russia, only we are using Ukraine soldiers to fight the battles, instead of our own guys, which many would believe, “Well, thus is OK by me.”

If we are going to fight Russia, well, hell, let’s do it. We definitely have superior air and navy power over Russia. That comes from our intel, which I am not privy to, but when I hear Generals on TV all making the same statements, then I have to believe there is a very strong possibility that it’s true. We have so much junk in space to shoot down missiles and locate large units of boots on the ground that we could send in a few F-18’s and clean house.

And even if Putin is killed or dies, there are more just like him that live by the pre Cold War era of taking out whoever.
 
Right now I doubt if any of what we read is very accurate. Surprise and deception is the name of the game in war, especially when fighting somebody bigger than you. And I would not put it past the Russians to manufacture political discontent among big shots to make it seem like their war effort is falling apart.

I wonder what the typical citizen of Belarus thinks about Russian tactical nukes in their country. Please, make us a big target? I think not.

I agree about China, but Russia is already fractured. It has been for a while, and now it's starting to crack.

A foster mum who rescued orphans from war-torn Ukraine has gone on trial for torture, sexual abuse and letting paedophiles pay to rape children in her care.

A court in the Polish city of Poznan has heard that Ukrainian Svetlana Plyushko regularly assaulted the children, forced them to put soiled nappies in their mouths and eat vomit.

It also heard that the 53-year-old allegedly se xually abused the 10 children aged between 4 and 16 and forced them to take drugs before inviting around local paedophiles who paid to abuse them.

Citing one example, prosecutor Aneta Chamczyńska-Penkala told the court: 'Together and in agreement with unidentified men, making it a permanent source of income, she handed over a minor to them in order to force her to have se xual intercourse.'

Local journalist Piotr Żytnicki from the respected Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper reported: 'They held her by the hair and raped her, while [Svetlana] stood in the doorway with the phone in her hand and counted the time.

There are thousands of Ukrainian citizens, mostly in the western regions, who are Russian sympathizers and hate Ukrainians with a passion. They are the ones who started all the violence in Donbas back in 2014, and the local officials there, also Russian sympathizers, let things escalate. And when Putin's military invaded the eastern borders, over 1000 children in Donbas from age 6 to 14 were forced onto buses that took them to Russia. Their Ukrainian parents haven't seen them since.

We can't go to war with Russia. If we win, what would we do with the country? Want it to be another Afghanistan?
It would destabilize the region and we would have wars going on all over Europe with an arsenal of nukes with no one in charge of 'the switch'.
Plus, it won't happen for political reasons, not during an election year.
The governments around the world know the US is weak at this point and will take action wherever they want. China will take Taiwan soon, NK will continue their surface to air missiles coming closer to the US.
Russia and Ukraine, both communist countries, both corrupt, let them hash it out themselves.
 
Apparently the bulk of the fighting centers on a forest in which the Russians seem to be taking ground. The Russian Army in that area is as large as the occupying force it had in Afghanistan.

The forest is the Serebryansky forest near Kupyansk.

Pressure's on the Russians and Ukraine who is experiencing shortages. The Russian soldiers have been ordered to dig 8 meter trenches per shift which means they want to stay. Ukraine soldier lamented they have to dig in for cover unlike urban areas with concrete buildings for cover.

Sadly I think this will turn into another statemate. Russia could use it to bargain during any truce or peace negotiations.
 
This war is draining Russia of its valuable resources. While Russia is a nuclear power it is not much more powerful than Italy or South Korea in economic terms. It’s people can’t eat nuclear bombs, tanks, hypersonic weapons, etc. This war has to be draining them. At some point the people will wake and realize their wealth is being squandered. Meanwhile, China could rally use a lot of those natural resources Russia has. It’s a shame really. Russia should be a great country, but its greasy Oligarchs and others are just looting the place for themselves. And now they are sacrificing other people’s blood to get their hands on Ukraine’s resources.
