More guns don't seem to be the answer....

No one needs military style guns and certainly not magazines over 5 shells! No one hunts with an AR-15 either. Those are only meant for killing humans!
I agree with you on the need to limit firepower in the hands of most people.

However there are people who hunt with AR-15s, these people do: https://hogswat.com/

It's night hunting with infrared scopes, the objective is to kill as many hogs as possible, for hog control. Done on farms with real hog problems. Not uncommon to come on a herd of a dozen or more hogs, you need the firepower to kill all or most of them. I have always wanted to go on one of their hunts, just never worked out.

It is obviously NOT a gun problem, but a people problem. There are plenty of people who can safely own guns and have no problem with them at all. It is the few that we hear about all the time that go into schools or a church or a concert or whatever and shoot a bunch of people. Those are the people that someone has to figure out how to get them out of their hands. What is the best way to do that, I have no idea other than stronger background checks which seems to disturb all the gun owners terribly.

Many knives are used in daily living to cook with so that is something that is a little harder to go down the road of banning all together. Know banning things like Machetes and Swords and stuff like that, I guess that topic could be raised but I don't know.

As for people making bombs there will also be those people who are smart enough to put something like that together if they want to and they try hard enough. It is ridiculous to even discuss banning things like fertilizer and fuel because of the many benefits they offer compared to the few things they can provide to those sorts of things. Scientists if they want could put together bombs with the materials they have , but we are not going to ban all that stuff either because of that chance of that happening.

Actually, new laws were passed to regulate fertilizer after the OK City bombing.

Secure Handling of Ammonium Nitrate Act of 2007 - Amends the Homeland Security Act of 2002 to direct the Secretary of Homeland Security to regulate the sale and transfer of ammonium nitrate by an entity that produces, sells, or otherwise transfers ownership of or provides application services for it to prevent its misappropriation or use in a terrorist act.

Reminds me of Antifreeze. After several wives used it to kill their husbands, a bitter-tasting chemical was added to it to cover up the sweet taste so it could be detected in tea & jello.

AR-15's that people can purchase are not a military gun. They are made to LOOK like military guns. One major difference is the military AR is both a semi-auto and full auto, like a machine gun. Big difference! You cannot legitimately compare these guns to military weapons...I use my AR solely to hunt and kill coyotes...having multiple shots is necessary to do this well...I do not own, nor have I ever owned a handgun.

Additionally, most gun violence in America is not done with a rifle (AR-15). Most is done with handguns! In today's world, having an armed citizenry is more important than ever. I cannot explain that more due to restrictions on this website.

Ever hear of bump stocks? The AR-15 is the gun of choice when people decide to go shoot the masses! We hear of mass shootings damn near 2 a week in the US. I live in Canada where we have good gun laws, and yes people can have guns, but you don't hear of mass killings here every week! We also do not have little kids accidentally killing their friends , or parents, etc.
The NRA loves you.

So you believe your government media? They might have a bias to, shall we say alter the facts, on American crimes...and how can you be sure they are fully reporting what is going on in Canada? Kids accidently kill friends and family all the time...e.g. playing with matches or fire in general. Playing in cars or farm equipment, playing cowboys and Indians with real knives and bows, etc. It is and always will be about people, not guns!

UM, I hate to tell you this but we get all your media and our own, we don't live in igloos. No we do not get FOXopinion. We could if we wanted it but why get a channel where the so called reporters favor Russia against Ukraine, and of course feed you constant lies!

Gee and I hate to tell you in all our years here I have never heard of kids killing each other with knives or bows and arrows, I will grant you that there are accidents with farm equipment (not many) but that happens in the US too and not like mass accidents.

Purhaps you are not as well informed as you think. What you don't know cannot hurt you, right? Nuff said, I will reply no more...

seriously they will not eliminate crazies .............or killing......
knives ....ax .......a good smack with a rock ... broken glass to stab someone .... how about cars driven over others .... and on and on and on .....

What is the best way to do that, I have no idea other than stronger background checks which seems to disturb all the gun owners terribly.
have you researched or done one yourself? the problems with background checks exist .... but Claiming they are not strong or people dont want them etc is easy for news to say to people.

No reasonable person is disturbed by them and many have completed with no issues.... but system is not working:

1.NICS, the background check system, is not fully funded.....

2. Many states do not report data to NICS.......
some states are up to a year behind in loading data into system .

3. The Justice Department doesn't prosecute background check fraud...... in my area man purchased by marking to issues clerk just saw all boxes clicked and did NOT verify ....he had a restraining order on him ....

4. NICS doesn't address illegal gun trafficking... Duh right?

5.Universal checks doesn't prevent acquiring guns through theft.....
"The Sandy Hook Elementary shooter killed his mom and stole her guns. Police have been targeted for gun theft - both from their homes and from their vehicles. The FBI also reports that organized gangs have stolen weapons from the military. Even safes can be cracked or if not bolted down, removed and later cracked. Home invaders can steal weapons right out of houses, even when the occupant is inside. No system can prevent the wrong people from acquiring guns in this manner."

A completed background check .....is like a snapshot in time ...
at that moment all was OK what check will PREDICT a issue in future?
