Most Coupons Not Worth It

I received one of those local merchant coupon books in thw mail. I was thumbing trough it and it struck me as sort of ridiculous. Most are on the order of "Get $5 off when you buy $100 or more." So, you have to spend $100 to save $5? What kind of valley girl math is that???
yes very much like that here too... or you've just spent £100 on the groceries, and with the receipt they give you a £15 off voucher for the next £100 you spend as long as you use it in the next 3 days... yep ok... not gonna happen !

If it's a food coupon, absolutely worth it to me because our groceries are always more than $100, so no reason not to save five bucks. If it's another kind of store, it would depend on whether or not I was going to spend $100... but I'd never buy extra stuff just to get $5... would have already been buying it.

CVS sent me two 20% off one regular price item coupons.
Those I can use.
Talbots outlet sent me a $15 bonus coupon. I got two nice shirts off the clearance rack for $8.24.
That I can use too!

I love those TV ads for new windows or a bathroom remodel. Call today and we will knock $1000 off the total cost. I had a guy my neighbor knew put a new floor and commode in my bathroom for $250, I bought the materials but they certainly didn't amount to tens of thousands of dollars. Buy our mattress now and save $500. Do I really need a $5000 mattress? No.

Me too. I'm like, "You mean they cost more than $1000????"

Coupons are pretty much passé here. We used to get regular mail outs with an envelope full of coupons. Almost always useless or it would be forgotten in my kitchen drawer. Now a store coupon is applied automatically when you have a free store membership. I keep my card on my phone and scan it when I checkout.

And those gushy check-out cashiers. They'll say something like, "You saved $1.39 today by using your advantage card!" I usually respond, "I could have saved $86.27 by staying home."
