This is part of an email she received yesterday.
Today we were informed that two mountain lions were spotted within three blocks of XXXXXXXX Middle School. The advice of the Monterey County Sheriff Department and Fish and Game is to not let your children walk to/from school alone.

She runs around there, told her not to until they catch them.

Never had seen any mountain lions here, but they are in the state. We have a lot of coyotes here, and they do attack people/children/pets when given the chance. Problem is they're getting too used to people, and some fools insist on throwing them food, etc. Of course a mountain lion attack is much more deadly, hope everyone stays safe. Realistically we are the ones to invade their territory. People complain about all the coyotes at the dog park, but the park was developed long after they inhabited the area.

Here in Florida we have black panthers, never had a problem with those that I know of.

I love those big cats! We have a lot of 'em and they're usually safe and secure up in the mountains away from town. But, occasionally, they have a Starbuck's craving or something and wander near us humans. Then, the excitement begins!

Wow! Black panthers DJ? Cool!
