Moving Away From Grandchild and Family

It is horrible to live in either a red or blue state. I live in a blue state. Our leaders raise taxes on everybody in the name of equity then give the low income people 25 cents on the dollar back IF they qualify for some government program. The leaders have become arrogant and mean spirited. One party rule is big problem regardless of the party in charge.
In one Blue State, California, a state legislator has proposed a bill that would pay $1,500 a month to undocumented residents over age 65 since they do not qualify for Social Security because they never got legal citizenship.

I have read of and known U.S. citizens, Social Security recipients, who don't get anywhere near $1,500 a month. Nevertheless, they worked for 40, 50 and 60 years of their lives, contributing to the U.S. economy and often raising their children and other people's kids, but they don't get $1,500 a month.

How is that fair, to reward those who got here illegally and never bothered to go through the citizenship process?

If this new CA law passes, will that mean anyone can bring their 65-year-old relatives here from other countries, illegally, and sign them up for this pension?

California undocumented seniors could get cash assistance. Why Newsom vetoed past attempt

Don't overlook the spectre of aggressive gentrification. We're seeing an ongoing influx of Californians, flush with real estate profits, coming in to feed the greedy developers building walled gardens of McMansions. Immediately there is a demand for services driving taxes higher a second time.

High demand for water and sewer has just bumped costs and very soon a major upgrade will close one of our few access routes for over 6 months.

Local businesses have already shut down after the freshly rotting fruit of McMoney drew in a new Costco. Little downtowns are no longer recognizable, being razed and replaced by multistory commercial buildings crowding the sidewalks of newly widened roads.

Prices are climbing ahead of inflation and many residents are fleeing to leave the grotesque disnification of the community behind, seeking affordable alternatives.

This proposal has nothing to do with fairness. It is vote buying, plain and simple. And the votes are being bought with public funds. The same is true for forgiving student debt. Note that the forgiveness is only given in elect5ion years. Of course, since the debt does not go away, we all pay for it later on in higher taxes or inflation or both. But, the votes are bought and that is the goal. Oh, it also avoids dealing with the real issues - a failed immigration policy and the very high costs of college education. What could possibly go wrong?
