We just recently moved from Ohio to Florida - 880 miles - and are still unpacking. I had Old Dominion freight company drop a 28' trailer in the Ohio drive way, had my grandson and a couple of his friends load up most of the stuff. I did all the boxing of stuff, which was a lot because my SO had lived in the same Ohio house for approx 42 years, and had not thrown much away. We filled up most of the 28' trailer. Old Dominion picked up the trailer on Monday, delivered to our Florida home on Thursday evening. I had a local crew (2 men) show up on Friday to unload. It took them 4 hours.
ABF provides the same service as Old Dominion, and I'm sure there are others. Old Dominion charge was about 3,400, and it was about $400 to load and another $400 to unload.
My lovely SO is slowly figuring out that she brought a ton of stuff that she should have donated back in Ohio, but that is okay, since this is a new experience for her. For example, she had 4 or 5 large boxes of shoes, and 3 or 4 medium boxes of purses, and 10 large wardrobe boxes of hanging clothes plus another 6 or 8 medium boxes of folding clothes. This is my 5th move since I retired in 2008, so I have shed all the nonessentials. Best of luck!
