Mrs. Robinson please check in!

She and my exDH live in the same town. I got an email from him last night saying the fire was unchecked and15 miles away, but they hadn't be told to evacuate yet. Haven't heard from him today but looked at their local newspaper and it looks like they must have got the order between 3 their time yesterday and this morning. He's 83 and in poor health, along with being asthmatic. Kids and I are worried because his wife "doesn't" drive (declines because she doesn't like to), and they live on the side of a mountain.

Anyway, if he's been evacuated, she must have been, too. Not good.

I've been thinking about her too Georgia, so many California fires in the news still. Hoping Mrs. R and your ex and his wife are safe.

Checking in! We are 3+ hours away to attend my 50th high school reunion. Yesterday was pretty crazy. Heard there was an advisory evacuation and my husband was going to leave the party preps (I am on the committee) and head home but before he could it suddenly became a mandatory evacuation so we knew that if he went home, they wouldn`t let him in. Our son was able to run over and grab our metal box of important papers, cash and I had him let my cat PJ outside because she would at least have half a chance if the house burns. But he was under mandatory evacuation himself so he couldn`t take the dogs or anything. But there are heroes in this world. With the help of my daughter,a man went in and got my donkey and my dogs and then my daughter`s friend came and met him with her trailer and took them all to her place. I am soooo grateful to them all! So I am told that they are all settled in nicely and seem to think they are on a vacation lol. Today we will head back and see what`s going on but will probably stay at our daughter`s 45 minutes away. But close to the animals :) Thank you everyone for the good thoughts-we sure need them!

Very scary stuff Mrs. R, glad you have had some help anyway and are safe. Thinking of you and hoping you don't have property loss or loss of loved ones. Good luck and take care.

Glad you and your "livestock" are okay. We haven't heard from my ex and are sure that they left, too. Hate where they live on the side of that mountain and the dicey drive to get down!

We got an email from exDH. They haven't evacuated. Apparently, they're far enough away from the actual town that so far they're still okay.

wow. This is all so frightening but your animals are safe and so are you. You seem to be in good spirits. What a wonderful family and good people that helped.

With the disaster in Redding, I didn't hear about yet another Lake County fire. It's getting sadder and sadder.

Mrs. Robinson, have you been allowed back in yet?

We got an email from ex yesterday morning saying that they didn't evacuate but haven't heard anything since. Kids are concerned. Actually, I am, too!

Well,we are now on Day 5 of Mandatory Evacuation. The fire ended up coming to within 100 feet of our house-way too close for me Our nearest neighbor lost his house. I won`t feel comfortable until it`s all over-this fire just keeps on changing direction. My son in law works for the power compan but has been sent North to Redding to restore power to that badly burned area, but one of his coworkers,a fellow I know, was going to take food and water out to my cats today. IF they are still there. I am hoping he will spot at least some of them. But at least I will know they will finally have food available, and fresh water,as I`m sure what they had there is covered in ash and fire retardant. Just can`t wait to get home to the fridge and freezer that have been without power for days....in 105 degree heat. Ugh. At least it wasn`t too full-talked to my neighbor this morning and he just dropped $500 at our brand new Costco last week and will now have to toss most all of it. I`m sure he won`t be the only one-people here have been chomping at the bit waiting for this Costco to open. Here is a pic of how close we came. The circled property is ours.
