FWIW, I remember reading that the prisoners and guards LOVED James Brown. He was fun, a good cook, had lots of good stories, and, well, he was James Brown.

I saw JB perform live with The Flames in 1964. What a show! They did the red cape thing.

However, while I was a fan of JBs music and showmanship, it later came out that he had a history of violent behavior and assault.
