i've always tried to be an organized person and keep utilitarian items in logical places. But as i get older i find i need more time to 'recover' my energy levels after a few hours of physical work. Combining that with sciatica and one bad knee--getting up and going to another room for certain things has become increasing annoying so things i once had in the bathroom with duplicates in my purse (nail files, lip balm tissues) i now have stashed by my bed and by where i sit on sofa (in winter that's also where i sleep)

What do you need to have within reach most anywhere you are?

I have a cane in every room.. One by my bed.. one by the side of sofa.. one in the hall. All discreetly placed so they're not clearly visible to visitors ... but I never know when my back is going to seize up and I can't get up from a sitting position..

Sugar tabs in every room. Especially by the bed. Sometimes I wake up with low sugar & it's too dangerous to walk (especially on stairs), so I'll grab 2 or 3 tabs that have 5 gms sugar each & wait a few minutes before getting up.
