My all time favorite desert

I am old fashioned and my favorite dessert is blackberry pie. It is sweet and a little tart. It makes the house smell so warm while it bakes.


I use frozen blackberries most of the time. They are easy to keep on hand and the filling comes out nice and jammy. Not runny. I brush the top crust with a little milk and sprinkle sugar so it bakes up with a pretty shine. I let the pie rest before cutting so the slices hold together. I like mine a little warm with a spoon of vanilla ice cream.

The first pie that I ever made was a blackberry or black cap pie at my grandmother’s elbow.

Also a fan of blackberry jelly.
