My apple seedling

I started an apple from a seed last spring. It is now about 10" tall in the pot. I thought it was too young and tender to set it out over this winter, but I've heard an apple tree needs a cold spell. I am beginning to wonder what would be a good time to replant it.

I did the same thing and planted it in the spring when there was no danger of frost. It grew slowly but was eventually put under siege by insects and maybe a blight. I got tired of dealing with it after a few years and just cut it down. From what I read, it may not have had apples true to the original since orchard trees are grafted and not started from seeds, and even if it did, no one here probably would be alive to see it. Keep it inside and watch it do it's thing. Bonsai trees live inside.
