My Apple Tree Got Mowed Down

After that it wouldn't start even though I bought a new blade.
Maybe the carburetor got flooded. That often happens if you’ve tried starting it often and it doesn’t start so you have to either wait or empty the carburetor which isn’t really a big deal either. ( sometimes just dirt in the carburetor)

Well, it's academic now. That mower is long gone. Before I bought that one, I bought a used Poulan from a small engine repair shop. I paid $85 for it and it never worked properly. Couldn't start it. I'd call the guy to come over and get it started. After the third time he took it back to his shop and I never heard from him again, so he had the mower and my $85. It would cost more to go after him - just another example of guys gyping old ladies.

Buddy sold you a dud lawn mower then charged you for picking it up and looking at it.
If you purchase a new one from a store you can drive to, it will usually have a warranty for at least a year or more. Briggs & Stratton have a 2 year warranty. It truly doesn’t pay to get a cheap lawn mower.

When you purchase a new GOOD lawnmower, even after the warranty, if you deal with the same place you purchased it from, they should be able to help you with anything else that goes wrong, or ask the forum to help figure some of this stuff out.

You have a hardware store that supplies a half decent mower which will come with a warranty. You could probably even purchase an extended warranty so you have more coverage. In your case, it would be worth it.

The librarian sent me an email suggesting another mower. He's a local kid. I called but spoke to his mom, aparently she screens phone calls. I told her her son was recommended to me by the librarian. We made arrangements for him to come today. He's here now (45 minutes past when I was told), but as long as he does a good job...and he's less expensive than the last one.

Good for you. That’s perfect. A lawn mowing kid. Yayyy! I’m genuinely happy for you. 👍

How the heck would they miss that? 😱
Is that a different camera or just different lighting?
A lighting artifact. It was early morning, so I used a flash.

I haven't seen any large mammals around here or their "leavings".
I suspect in 6 weeks there won't be much left in the way of leaves. Somone told me to upend a bucket over it during winter for protection.

Ok. That makes sense.
If you are going to use a bucket add a couple of small nail holes if it’s plastic and fill the insides loosely with dead leaves and / or dry mulch.

I've seen squirrels, chipmunks and a rabbit, but no raccoons or woodchucks. I have found peanuts in the shell half buried in some plant pots I have outside, so some critter is bringing them over from my neighbor's feeders and stashing them here.
