My brother lost his wife suddenly just over a year ago. He is 79,she was only 68. He never expected to be alone. He is very healthy, plays golf every day and is so much fun to be around (great sense of humor). Handsome too. But he was adamant that he had no interest in ever having a lady in his life again-he loved Cathy too much to ever want anyone else. So the first six months were pretty rough for him, then he started playing golf again and getting out of the house more and began to perk up. He has been going to a weekly grief support group as well. Right at the beginning,he met this woman (at the group) who happened to be a neighbor of our cousin and knew him well. So our cousin invited both my brother and this lady to a dinner party at their home last year and they got along wonderfully but nothing beyond that. Then I called him the other night and he mentions going to the movies with five of the ladies from his group, then out to dinner afterwards with three of them. Then hubby calls him last night to chat and he tells him that he is going out with that one lady tonight-out to dinner if it`s not raining or she will make him dinner at her house if it is. We are soooo happy for him! I think I mentioned that his daughter passed away a few months before his wife-his son in law remarried within a couple of months and all five kids (all college age) have scattered. His other daughter lives 5 hours away. So he has nobody close by. I am so happy that he has opened his heart to,at the very least, companionship!
