My Burger King experience

Really? Lord in heaven, time flies! But here is another fact. I can speak German and whenever I am in Germany (not so often lately) I still quote their prices in DM. They look at me oddly but I can't help it. It just comes out of mouth that way.
25 years is a bit of a power curve:>)

It's in the language. If the price is €7 ..... it's no problem for me, Sieben Euro. But if there is a decimal, such as €7. 50 then I revert back to Sieben Mark fünfzig. It's automatic. I lived in Germany before the Euro and I don't live there any more.

Pizza "parlour?" I haven't heard that term in a while! :)

Growing up in NY, we used to call pizzas "pizza pie." I moved to Texas when I was 20. A few weeks after I moved there, I went to a pizza place and tried to order a "pizza pie." The Asian guy working the counter kept telling us, "we no serve pie." We never did get through to him what we wanted a wound up leaving without any food.
:DI'm laughing at that because you've just explained something that's been puzzling me for decades.. as to why Dean Martin sings about Pizza Pie in 'That's Amore''.....I knew he was Italian, but I used to live and work in Northern Italy and never heard it called Pizza Pie there... so I thought maybe it was just songwriters' licence... so Now I know...

"Chicago style" might be the most pie-like type, but if not "pie" what is pizza considered to be in Italy? "Scone?" "Piadina?"

Whether Chicago style or New York style they are both much better than pizza served in Italy. Italians may have invented pizza but Americans make it better than anyone in the world.

Not that I've ever been to the USA... but I have travelled quite extesively throughout Europe, and I have never had any better Pizza than in verona Northern Italy..they are exactly as they should be.. very thin... no bluddy pineapple ... HUGE and cheap..and they're served a starter to a meal..

Ugh. Ketchup on a cracker.

Suspect given inflation, a lot of former middle class people that frequented fast food chains and restaurants will be increasingly be joining this frugal person eating mostly from what is bought at supermarkets, especially low cost chains. And that will cause increasing numbers of restaurants to close leaving empty shells in our cities much like happened to most gasoline stations that once were on almost every urban corner. A positive benefit of fast food closures will be less consumed red meat, good for one's health and the environment.

Many of the prices quoted here shocked me to my socks! Wow!!!

Since I make pizza and it only costs me $1.00 - $2.00 plus some effort to make a 16" pie, I was unfamiliar with the current outrageous prices.
Don't eat meat so burgers, Subway, KFC, and other fast food places are off my radar.

When traveling or out and about and I need to grab something to eat, I tend to hit a big grocery store's deli section and pick up a sandwich, pasta salad or regular salad. If no grocery stores are around, I hit a stand-alone convenience store or one attached to a gas station. Cheaper and healthier than FF.

If I need coffee on the road, I go to a convenience store. 1/3 the price of Starbucks, I make it how I like it, and don't need to speak an obnoxious, pretentious, fake language (lest I get corrected) or wait 20 minutes in line to order then another 5-10 for the "barista" to pour me a freaking cup of coffee.

I keep granola bars in my car to handle emergencies when I need to eat something right now!!

Me too.

Get back to me when you've been to the US.

I'm with you on that.

Meaning ..... ?

American pizzas (I'm not talking about crappy pizza chains like Pizza Hut or that God-awful Dominos) have thin (but not rigid) crusts and so much good stuff on top that you need two hands to lift a slice of it up to your mouth. None of that thumb and forefinger and stick it in your mouth like a three-corner wafer.

I do not recall the last time we ordered pizza. It is so easy to make from scratch and I normally have at least 1/2 of one in the freezer,
So I went on line and suffered sticker shock! Either no prices at all or a large for 15-25. That is highway robbery for a warm sandwich. $7.50 and I have two with the works that my carnivore eats.

There was a time when I made "pizza" myself in the oven with normal bread slices covered with cheese and whatever. It was goooooood!

Me too.

what do you mean''meaning';....meaning they're not so thick and doughy and filled with so many ingredients that you can't eat a full bowl of Spag . afterwards ( except me because Im such a lightweight, I can only maage 1/2 a pizza regardless of where I eat it... before I'm full..,)

I don't frequent fast food places, however once every blue moon I succumb to some subliminal implant(from a TV commercial) and the thought of a fast food visit comes to fruition. So I swing by Burger King on the way home from the gym and pick up lunch for myself and DW.

Order:
1 Whopper w/cheese + small fries(hers)
1 Whopper, no cheese(mine)
Total: $22.70
Let me repeat that: Twenty-Two Dollars(USD) and Seventy Cents.

Seriously, this visit was THE LAST TIME I will be visiting a fast food place!
That is disgusting and I feel sorry for you. I feel sorry for myself too. I love fish & chips and before Covid it was usually around $13 Canadian. Yesterday I had fish & chips (it appeared to have shrunk) and the bill was $23. Of course, on top of that, they also want a BIG FAT tip!

If you ask me many restaurants will be pricing themselves out of business.

I'm not a lightweight but I can only maaage 1/2 pizza myself. But the real issue is quality (savour), not quantity. I seldom cut away the crust but if the ingredients are so scrumptious and I can see there is no way of me eating the whole pizza .....

The idea of eating spaghetti after pizza is mind blowing. I'm not sure why it would be served in a bowl for that matter. Are these SpaghettiOs to go along with the Ketchup on a Cracker?

No..they are normal pasta spaghetti... served in a big bowl at the table with meat sauce.. and all sorts of other accompaniments

They already are here. So many Pubs, restaurants.. closed since Covid, and the huge price increases .. as well as the huge rent increases...

It makes no sense to me either. Much of the pizza topping can (and sometimes are) mixed in with spaghetti but why then eat both noodles AND baked dough with the same meal? Mind-blowing, yes.

Well, saghetti in a bowl naturally, but pizza in a bowl? Someone is playing games here.
Ketchup on a Cracker?
Or on a banana.

It’s interesting to me that the majority of people never enter the building and take a seat to eat their food.
I have no doubt that sitting in your car eating has an advantage but I don't know what that might be. Call me snooty but eating in your car seems very uncivilized to me.
