My California trip

Rather than posting individual threads about the various aspects of my trip, I figured I'd just make a single one and keep adding to it.

Fun first day. I got the grand tour of their newly renovated house and addition..an extra 1500 square feet plus a pool and jacuzzi. They took me to my favorite burger place for lunch, In N Out...specific to this region, best burgers and fries around! Corey took me for a ride in his new Tesla...MAN that thing can move!! O - 60 in 3+ seconds in Ludicrous mode...no lag whatever!!!

We went to my favorite Sushi place for dinner. So much good food!!! Back home, hung with the grandkids, paddled in the pool, watched a movie, then crashed. Miss Ron, but other than that I'm in heaven, surrounded by my babies and enjoying every minute!

Where I'm computing from right now:

Beautiful, all of them. Sounds like a great time! In N Out isn`t a national chain?? Is it California only or West Coast or?? I thought everybody had them. The closest one to us is 30 minutes away-just opened last year. We are over there all the time but have only eaten there twice. I never really understood why they are a big deal but I know most everyone LOVES them!

Oh,and I no longer need you to go hug my greatgrandbabies in San Dimas for me. I heard from my grandson night before last that they are "over" living in SoCal and are moving back closer to home-most likely in the next few days! They are renting a home in a Sacramento suburb until they find one to buy. 2.5 hour drive opposed to 10 works for me!

I’m so happy for you Mrs Robinson!!! Obviously I know what it's like to have family far away, and I'm so grateful to my son that he makes such an effort, fully supported by his wife, to fly me and his various siblings and their families out once or twice a year plus in addition to that, they take an extended vacation and RV across the country every other year, spending a week or so in Tennessee with all the siblings and cousins and it's a grand time!!

No, In N Out isn't a national chain, they're only on the West Coast. They've slowly expanded eastward over their 70-year lifetime to Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and more recently to Houston TX. But they won't go much further. There aren't any freezers or microwaves in In-N-Out restaurants because the company has a strict policy of serving its food fresh so all their locations must be within 300 miles of the company's distribution facilities. And it's family owned too, and won't ever be franchised. It's currently being run by the 30 year old granddaughter of the founders of the business.

We’re up the mountain at the family’s Condo in Big Bear. Gorgeous scenery!
We hiked into The Village ..about a 2 mile hike. It went by so fast with scenery like this to look at!!

We went bowling too! Drove past an alley and I suggested it. Turns out the younger two had never been and the older two were very young when they went. It was fun!!

That chain is in Austin, as well. Unbelievably, they do not carry veggie burgers, so my first visit was my last.

Hey @Ronni. You have a handsome family. Thanks for the pics and info on CA and your visit. Sounds so wonderful! I so wish I could go there, too. I have family out there. A little envious of your trip! Just being real about it!

Look who’s joined me for the last few days
of my vacay?? 👍😂

@Ronni, the photos were so much fun! I loved the one of you with the red scrunchie in the front of your hair, so cute. I feel like I know your family. Their place is beautiful!

No In and Out burgers in CT :( Why don't you and Ron start an east coast chain? :D

Glad Ron made it out there to join in for awhile! 🍔🍣🍚🥠🍣

Seems that California agrees with you. One thing that stuck out- BOWLING. I don't know who goes bowling any more. Around here all the alleys have closed and are now flea markets.
Yeah a lot of the bowling alleys I used to go to are now closed. It’s a fun activity though and I’m grateful that I can still move well enough to enjoy the activity and get the occasional strike or spare! 😉
