My cat died last 2 months ago

Max's ghost would climb on my feet almost every night, shyly as always; timidly for months. Would walk over my feet, as he always did. I wasn't sure it was Max, always had to confirm in my mind, YES, there really is a cat; I felt him jump up on the bed, I DO feel him on my feet. Felt like Max. This was confirmed when Buffy died-----I've had no more visitations, he got what he wanted, what he was searching for, my Buffy was his Buffy first.

This really happened.

Completely unexpected. She was doing great in the a.m., and just after noon she was wheezing. That day she had to be put down. There had been no indication that she was ill. At all. I was so sad and shocked that even now I can't get rid of her stuff. I washed everything, put it in a corner all clean and tidy, and there it sits. A warning would've been equally sad for me, but the way this happened just made me feel that I had somehow missed a signal, something. Since then, I sometimes see her walking across the room out of the corner of my eye! Has anyone had that happen? Maybe it's an optical illusion.

Optical illusion? Of course not. Cats leave paw prints on your heart and your little beauty is no illusion. She loves you and is trying to let you know that she is fine and she will be with you forever. Those paw prints are indelible.

@OneEyedDiva After my big fluffy tortie died in the house I owned there, I was on the computer in the extra bedroom and swore I saw my calico come in the room. She liked the small couch in there and would go where I was often. But I looked on the couch and she wasn't there. I think she was on the bed. So she didn't walk into the room.

Sorry your cat has a wound now. Poor baby. I know you'll take good care of him.
Hello, when my squirrel left to the trees in search of a mate he returned home after 3 months with what looked like he had been shot with a bb gun in the side. I used a 1% hydrocortizone cream on the wound and kept it bandaged so he would not lick it. Changed it every other day and after a week he was healed and back in the trees. :) It felt really good to know he knew where to go when he was in trouble.

I did find out at the end. She had mass heart failure. I never even knew pets could have that, but I suppose they could have anything.

That happened to my chihuahua, he ran around enjoying life like he was fine, but for years the vet cautioned me that he had a bad heart. It never affected him until one day he was laying around breathing funny and I thought he had pneumonia, but when I took him to the emergency vet, his heart had swelled up and he had to be put to sleep. Such a shock, but I'm glad he lived his best life up until that point.

Your cat looked really cute and nice. I'm sorry for your loss.

Poor baby! Yes, him returning to you is a testament to the good care you obviously give.

I can't even imagine the grief you must be going through, especially losing such a young cat. :( Our Toby was 6 when he was diagnosed with severe asthma, stopped eating and grooming and would pant just to breathe. The vet tried everything, but ultimately he had to be put to sleep. It was heartbreaking.

We always have two cats, not only to help if one passes but to keep each other company. We only had Andy for a while after Toby passed, then I went online and found Bugsy. They are great with each other. Bugsy was 6 years old when we adopted him, but he is so special that I will take whatever time I have with him.

Again, I'm so sorry about the loss of your beautiful little girl.

Sorry for your loss. We just lost our 18 year old cat less than two months ago. I’m often seeing her out of the corner of my eye. I hear her meowing at times. Like yourself, I miss her terribly. She comes to me in my dreams. When she does, I have a very content day.

Our cat staked out our property the day before. Stayed out all night. I think she was digging her grave site under our shed but she came by to say ‘goodbye.’ She snuggled with me the entire day. Sleep snuggled with my husband at night and demanded to go out the next day.

It was the nicest goodbye I’ve ever had from a beloved pet. The love we shared was so strong that she’s never really gone. I just can see her no longer.

What a sweet thing to do.
Thank you for that.
