My cell phone is driving me nuts!!

I was thinking about that. Do you use some kind of thingy that plugs in your phone?
You can do it without a thingy. One way ...

Most Motorola phones already use Google Photos.

On the phone:
  1. Open the Google Photos app.
  2. Tap your profile picture.
  3. Turn on “Backup.”
On your computer:
  1. Go to Google Photos
  2. Sign in with the same Google account.
  3. Download any photos you want.

Flash drives/Memory sticks that plug into the power jack can be used.

You could upload photos to online cloud storage or transfer them to another device via a bluetooth based app.

You can connect the phone directly to a PC and try to transfer photos, but might take some extra configuring using Windows.

After confirming photos are saved, do a factory reset.

What I'm doing now with my phone is to power off every time I use it. I need to use it tomorrow so I want it working well!

I'm going to look into a flash drive. Eventually I will get another phone. I think I recall that when you get a new phone you can transfer your pictures to it. Or am I dreaming?😉

Thank you 😊 I don't understand having a profile picture in my photos.

That’s just Google’s name for the little picture or initials tied to your Google account, not something inside your photo library. A lot of people never set one up, so you may just see a colored circle with a letter in it.

You only need to tap that circle/icon in the top corner of the Google Photos app to find the Backup setting.

Also having issues with Motorola phone and cell service. It keeps freezing up. It stares at me. Sometimes just changing the position from vertical to horizontal it works again. I am having service issues with my provider and even customer service took note of the amount of times the service cuts out/super glitchy. Have to keep on resetting home internet.

As noted power off then turn back on. Delete as much history as possible. Some say anti virus software can mess up an android device(I have too) Check for unused apps, you be surprised what winds up on your phone as an app. Remove as many suggestions as possible-sometimes going directly to a particular pages is really slow compared going to the website home page.

Good Luck

Doesn't Google charge for that ? I was getting emails from them and they wanted me to pay for my photos.

Google Photos is free for a certain amount of storage. Every Google account gets 15 GB free, shared between Photos, Gmail, and Google Drive.

If your photos/videos plus emails and files go over that limit, Google starts sending notices asking you to buy more storage. That may be the emails you saw.

You do not have to pay unless you run out of the free space and want more google storage space.

SOooo ... how much free storage do you still have left? ... You can check how much Google storage you’re using pretty easily.

On the phone:
  1. Open the Google Photos app.
  2. Tap the little circle/profile icon in the top right corner.
  3. It should show something like “__ GB of 15 GB used.”
Or on a computer/tablet:

Go to Google One storage and sign in with your Google account. It will show how much space is being used by Photos, Gmail, and Google Drive.

Sometimes Gmail attachments and old emails take up more space than photos do.

If you still have free space available out of that 15 GB, you can ignore those emails. Otherwise, try and free up some of that 15 GB free storage by deleting things you don't need or use. That way you make room in the free storage for stuff.

@Ruthanne , if this stuff seems overwhelming, maybe try finding assistance with the issues locally to you.

A lot of seniors can get free help right in their own community. The local library is usually the best place to start. Many of them help with phones, photos, email, and basic computer questions, sometimes even one-on-one.

Senior centers are another good option since they often have volunteers who help with tech issues. Some phone carrier stores will also help with simple things like settings or photo transfers.

It might also be worth asking a family member or friend to sit down and go through it step by step. That can make it much less stressful.

I am half the limit. The emails I got were photos of my dog that I took while she was alive. They wanted me to purchase an album. I have a few albums saved on my phone. I had thought about getting one but was too distraught at the time. I can still get one .

I am not overwhelmed at the moment.
I powered my phone off for a whole day and it is much better so far...
