I was on a web site yesterday that I know is safe and all of a sudden, I got cut off that site with a full screen message that said my hard drive is not installed. Then my computer started beeping. Of course, there was a phone number to call to "fix" it. I didn't do that. I just turned my computer off and waited and turned it back on. Is this another scam??? I ran security checks but it said everything is fine

A well-known computer scam expert (Jim Browning) says it's best to shut your computer down.

I think he means if you click on a scam link or call the number, but better safe than sorry...and you should shut it down every once in a while anyway.

Boy the scammers are all over the internet-it pays not only to have Good security to make sure you either scan the PC thoroughly with the Security program-at least once a week -unless your security ,like mine, does automatic checks.

A few years ago I had a loud clicking noise from my PC, but not a beep- and I shut it down and opened my tower ( I use a PC vacuum cleaner to clean it once in a while, and here there was a very, very small piece of paper that was hitting the fan, making the click.

This is odd, I read my email early this AM and then AOL went down again. per 'isitdownnow' site But I noticed there was a new icon link n the AOL Home Page for the Senior Forum here and it works.

I use the internet for research but I am sure glad I can get here, as research takes a lot of time.
