My credit card was compromised

Aple Pay../>..I refuse to have it.. because I would be frantic every second about where my phone is.. and I don't want to live like that....
It's more secure than that Holly. It also uses face recognition or the pin code for your phone.
It uses a token rather than your credit card number.

Look into it, you'll find it is more secure in today's world.

I don't have to look into it. My husband had it for years, my daughter the same.... nope not for me..I don't want to feel panicked that I've left my phone somewhere by accident, and someone's hacked into it.. and all my savings have gone...

I'm sorry that happened to you @Gardenlover. I had a few charges to some mobile phone company on my last statement, and fortunately Chase discovered it even before I did and replaced the card. I have ApplePay on my phone in my Apple Wallet, but I've never used it. Most times I leave my phone in the car when I'm grocery shopping because I don't want to lug it around. There was one time I left it in the grocery cart and one time I left it at the register at Whole Foods. Both times I noticed it quickly.

I carry a thin business card holder with all my essentials (DL, credit cards, insurance cards, etc.) The couple of times I've misplaced it I have freaked out! But if you find ApplePay more secure, I'm all for it!

We have always carried two cc's and have had to cancel a card (due to someone using the card number) about half a dozen times over the years. CC company always came through, and we have never lost any money, so we don't worry about it other than the minor inconvenience.
We will never use a phone or device to pay for anything other than purchasing a ticket for something overseas which has only been a handful of times. We feel secure with 'old fashioned' cards.

I'm so sorry that happened to you Gardenlover. How did you find out? Was it your bank's fraud alert, or did you notice an unauthorized charge yourself? I never use Apple Pay or Google Pay...the process seems complicated. But my son uses those things a lot. It's been a few years since someone tried making fraudulent charges on my credit card(s).

I have recently started using Apple Pay and so far am pleased with it.

I admit that at first I had a bit of a problem with the double click activation but now I can spend at lightening speed. 😉🤭😂

I also use the card that came with the Apple Pay account for purchases at Walmart and other retailers that aren’t set up for Apple Pay.

I feel that it’s much safer than using a conventional credit card, under similar circumstances.

My phone uses facial recognition or a code to unlock it and there is a second facial recognition required to access and use Apple Pay. My conventional credit cards require no verification of any kind.

I don’t use Apple Pay as a debit card so my checking/savings account isn’t linked to the Apple Pay account for anything other than automatic payment of the balance each month.

The 2% instant cash back on all purchases is a nice bonus.

So sorry your credit card was compromised Gardenlover.

I do not use my cell phone to order products. I never have.
I use my computer. Almost all the places I shop online ask to send a code either to my e-mail or text.
I prefer text.
My payment methods do the same.
So someone would need to know a lot about me to even get into the places.
I do worry about it sometimes.

I have to agree. I don't like anything like that on my phone. I know there may be a time where I have to access something while away. I know important passwords and could if I have to.

I've never been one to use my cards for every day use, and don't use half the stuff I see on my bill or emails. I may use them once a year for about $5 so they won't bug me. I don't fall for the marketing trap of using them every day ads I see. I still remember when they were advertised for emergencies and vacations only.

My children all use all that new fangled stuff and have no problems. I'm not old fashioned, I don't think, just cautious.
..agreed I'm the same, I don't think I'm old fashioned.. I'm just being as careful as I can...

Both my DD and my ex husband used apple pay.. telling me as long as I have my phone locked then if someone steals it, they won't be ble to access anything... but I don't trust that at all....

My Medicare card has been compromised twice. Both times they sent me new cards with differnt numbers. And like Paladin my credit card was compromised by Walmart. That happened quite a few years ago but to this day I won't use a credit card at Walmart either. I've bought a few things online from them but I used a gift card for that.

I use the tap feature on my credit card instead of inserting or swiping the card when possible.

When I pay bills, I manually call the automated phone number on the bill and follow the automated prompts to enter my information and pay. I don't know how safe that is compared to other methods, but I've had no issues after doing it that way for 6-8 years.

I do not order online except from one reliable company I''ve used for uears without issues.

Some years ago, I ordered something online from a company I had not used before. Whether or not someone there misused my credit card info, I don't know, but shortly after that transaction, my card was used to make a fraudulent purchase (just one). When I called Bank of America, they promptly removed it and sent me a new card. I never heard anymore from BOA, so I don't know the outcome of their investigation.

It is said tokens are safer and suggest tapping your chipped card as That is a token and your card # are not recorded.

Nothing is completely safe and I remember being out recently with a young person throwing a fit as the place he wanted to buy something did not take apple pay.
