My drive to work this morning at 3.30am

Very often there is an elderly woman getting her exercise by going for a walk. I have no idea how far she walks but it would be at least 4 miles?
This morning she was walking down the centre of the road in her pyjamas and dressing gown. 3.30 in the morning.
Further along my route I see some small object on the road, as I near my thought was it was a large rat.
No, it was a small dog, a Chihuahua wearing a jumper. I did have to brake heavily as the little-un went out of sight in front of my car.
Reversing so as not to run over the little tyke, it scarpered along the road and I moved over to give it room.
At a T Junction there is a house with a dog that is obviously left outside all night. Closed in yard. This poor dog looks so forlorn every time I see it.
Middle of winter, less than 10 degrees and the dog is left outside.
To me it's demeanor is one of sadness and depression. I become slightly maudlin every time I see this dog left alone.

Ten degrees C is 50 degrees F. I think most dogs will be quite able to live comfortably at that temperature. The woman in the middle of the road is a more concerning problem as she is a danger to vehicles ( and herself ) in the dark hours. For those who don't know...A jumper is a British name for a sweater.
