Welcome, crochet lady. I wish I could (crochet). My mother, my grandmothers and all my aunts crocheted. Apparently it's a skill/talent that skipped me.
Where are you? As indicated by my board name, I'm in Georgia.
And I would certainly love to see England, hollydolly! I love to read anything about your country's rich history and English country cottage gardens are breathtaking. Bet you love it too! To GeorgiaXplant: yes, crocheting is a nice hobby; it's a really simple craft to learn. I crochet blankets for the Linus Project; this is an nationwide organization comprised of blanket makers who donate (homemade blankets, of course) to children in U.S. who are in the hospital, taken out of homes/traumatic situations, etc. Love to do this!
Hm. I'd forgotten that two of my uncles crocheted. They were both RNs and in the navy during the war. Wherever it was that they were stationed, it must have often been quiet because that's where they learned. After the war, they continued crocheting on their off time and turned out some pretty nice work. The uncle who's still alive at 90 is probably still occupying his time with crochet work!
Crochet Lady, it would be helpful if you'd complete your profile. If there's info that you'd just as soon not share, that's fine, but maybe some of the basics? We like to get to know a bit about our cyber pals.
Welcome crochet lady nice to have you join in. NC, a place I will forever be connected to there's a statue of my great grandfather standing tall Winston Salem. I still have family there, my daughter lives in NC and I moved there for a short while to be near her, but when it snowed two years in a row, I had to move back to FL for the third time, but one never knows, I could end up back in the Carolinas some day again.
Thanks all for your welcome! Sounds like alot of crocheters; it's a great way to spend time. Did you crochet that welcome sign,Seabreeze? Very cute! What did everyone do this weekend? I made spaghetti and piddled in the yard and in the house. Kind of rainy here recently.
No Crochet Lady, I don't know how to knit or crochet, but my mother did both. She tried to teach me a little, but I wasn't interested in learning at the time. This weekend we were camping and came back late yesterday. Today catching up on emptying the camper, starting some laundry, etc. Love the cooler fall weather!
My daughter took up crocheting a few years ago, & has made & is still making all sorts of things. i used to be a knitter, but hand problems took care of that. LOVE NC! Im in the southwest, former Easterner, late inlaws had a retirement home in Bat Cave, near Lake Lure, visited there & far western part of state, & love the outer banks. was just there in Sept 2012 .
Hello and welcome crochet lady.
I like to crochet but haven't done it for a year or so.
I think I will get some yarn and crochet myself a nice warm red scarf for the cold months.
It's nice to have a pastime for our long winter.
Hope you enjoy spending time here.
