My generation were Brave compare to now

No climbing rope and no showers were required but absolutely hated gym class in high school - dodge ball, going on the pommel horse, etc. Actually I hated high school period. I started high school knowing not a soul as my family had moved. Four years of hell from students ( called me bones as I was skinny and flat chested with short hair) and not a crack of a smile from any of my teachers during all of my time there.

We had the ropes, rings, horse, etc…

The toughest for me was the pegboard on the wall. It took a combination of strength and coordination.

When I was in my senior year, I was able to avoid PE with a parental note.

I’m not sure why my mother provided the note but I’m thankful that she did, one less thing to deal with.

It wasn’t the exercise that bothered me as much as the forced socialization, too peopley for me even back then.

I don't remember a rope, but we did have what they now call The Merry-go-round of Death :ROFLMAO:

It was my favorite thing at the playground, but yeah - a little dangerous. The good ole days!!

Mine too. That and the monkey bars. And dont forget the teeter totter.
That could be an experience if the person on the ground decided to get oiff when you were in the air.
We didn't have the ropes, but I did have to do the balance beam... and I have horror stories about it when I wasn't focusing a few times. 😖😫 Cringe!
Only the boys had to do the ropes. We had to do the balance beam too. I agree cringe.
I was tall and like most of us tall ones extremely uncoordinated. I could trip over air. Actually, I still can.
I hated team sports with a passion. I was always the last one picked.

Oh yes, loved the monkey bars!!! I didn't do too much teeter totter :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I would have enjoyed school much more if I could have skipped academic classes and majored in gym class and recess, I loved all the physical activities.
I think most boys did love it...like climbing ad playing.. especially if there was a Ball involved....

I didn't dislike Gym at all.... but altho' we did track & field in summer..it was a totally different kettle of fish in winter because we were made to play hockey outside..

Now in our school..girls had to take gym Inside or out.. in just their school shirt and Navy knickers..no shorts, no gym skirts.. just knickers.. so not only were we freezing outside.. but the hockey pitch was directly outside of the Technical drawing classes which were all boys.... and we were mortified.. at the cat calling and whistling..

No cons? The whole PE was a nightmare for me. I HATED IT!!!!!

Ya know, after the age of say 13 - so did I ! Kids are mean and I was never overly coordinated, not to mention -

I have a very fair complexation (they called me Casper) and my mom's home made sweat pants were "high waters" -

So everything combined - I used to really dread PE!
