If you have been following the stories about my grandfather, life with my granddad had its moments. You always just get blind sided. You never knew what my granddad was up to. This is one of the very first memories in my life. I was about 3 going on 4. I guess just my mom and I were home. There was a commotion at our front door, I went to see. It was my granddad holding the reins of a huge, beautiful race horse. It was a muscular, powerful, sleek animal with shiny black fur. I loved it. My granddad wanted to keep the horse in our back yard. To hell with Lassie, I had a race horse. My mom was saying, "Dad, we rent here. They'd throw us out if we had a horse in the back yard". My mom was always putting the damper on things. I started screaming, "Put the horse in the back yard." For some reason the horse had to get off the street right away. "Dad, we can't do that". "Put the horse in the back yard." "Dad, no." "Put the horse in the back yard." The front door closed. No horse!! The next day, we got in the car and drove to a field that used big square stones to make a coral. The horse was eating some grass and then he run a little. That's all I remember about my granddad's horse.
