My Grandmother Marriage License

I just saw my grandmother's marriage license date Sept.11, 1910 on Ancestry.com. Here is something I think is funny, "That neither of said partners is an habitual drunkard, epileptic, imbecile. or insane and is not under the influence of an intoxicating liquor or narcotic drug,"

That kind of requirement would have put an immediate screeching halt on the proceedings of a couple of weddings i have attended.....maybe more than a couple if you strictly adhere to the definition of "insane".

And under the influence of intoxicating liquors or narcotic drugs? It seems that's the only way *some* people CAN go through with it.
