It has taken him two weeks to be able to see a urologist as his insurance did end March 31st and he didn`t want to create an even bigger bill than he already is facing from the ER visit. Turns out he was eligible to be added to his wife`s insurance since they just married in February. All he had to do was send a check for $80.00 and he is covered back to May 1. Won`t cover his hospital bill as that was April 28th but at least he will be covered moving forward.
So,with a lot of persistence,he finally got a call late Monday afternoon from a urologist who saw his CT scan results and told him to come to the hospital immediately, that he would wait for him there. They drove the hour and a half to the hospital and he gave him more meds, explained what the options for treatment would be (none of them pretty) and told him to go to our local hospital the next day for an xray to see if the stone had moved at all. That`s what he would base his treatment option on.
Well,he got the xray yesterday and the stone is gone! They say he must have passed it! He has no idea when-they think it must have happened the first night when he was so drugged up on morphine. He still has blood and puss in his urine they say,but that that is normal for having had the stone. Hope they are right. Doc was a little concerned that this should happen at his age (35) and never have had one before.
Said that`s unusual but checked his prostate and said that seemed normal. So back to work he goes and hopefully this will be the end of it. But at least now, even if he`s working out of state,he will know his insurance is in place.
