My Son Has The Coolest Parking App. Where Available, It Replaces The Need For Parking Meters

We were in a major N.J. city looking for parking to go to a book store. My son parked by a short pole and started fiddling with his phone. He was using the Park Mobile app to find the zone number for where we were. He then entered it as well as the required info about his vehicle, how long we'd be away from the car and paid for the allotted time. He entered 15 minutes. The app notifies drivers 5 minutes before their time runs out. Sure enough in 10 minutes he got the notification. We were already about to head back and would get there before the 15 minutes was up but if we weren't he would have been able to add more time and pay for it right from his phone. He also used it when were in Atlantic City, N.J. No more running back to the meter. Park Mobile is available in certain major North American cities but unfortunately, not everywhere. https://parkmobile.io/

Yes I always use the parking app ..too , really it's hard to find a car park area around here now that actually takes money... 9/10 require you to use the parking App, which is appalling for those who cant use a phone due to many reasons.. bad eyesight being a big one for a lot of people.. the fact that a lot of people particularly older people don't have a smart phone.. and so on..

I have a great Parking App too, it is called a "Blue Badge",
a parking ticket for disabled drivers, works in most places
where I can park for free.

Mike.
Ditto mike
But now where we moved to
We have to get a ticket as well with the blue badge Council Car parks 🤬

I kind of hate that everything is apps nowadays. But that's just me resisting progress. They are pretty handy sometimes!

Some are, especially now that I have the camper van. I use them to find businesses that allow overnight parking, dump station locations and I absolutely love the CSC Go laundry app for campgrounds and laundromats that are in the system. You load the app from your credit card, scan the barcode on the machine to pay and can see the time countdown for the washer or dryer on the app. Sends a notification when the load finishes.

Well those who have bad eyesight probably shouldn't be driving! I would never drive now even though for the most part I see well (almost 20/20 with my glasses and only a little less without them) but I have distorted vision which would make me dangerous on the roads. Even before this started happening, I had night blindness. I do get that many older people don't have smart phones or don't know how to do all the techy stuff.

It's the same with EV's needing charged. They just use the app to get a fill up or how much they want. We are slowly shifting into a cashless society.

Sorry, reading vision is a completely different thing from Distance vision which is what is needed to be able to drive.

Well I was referring to any type of visual emparement that would hinder driving, not reading. :) But you're right they'd also need to be able to read their phones to use the app.
