My SS check was deposited early!

First time ever! Was checking my bank acct on line and there it was, direct deposited this weekend. Wasn’t due till 10/15..Never had this happen before. I’m on a 3rd Wednesday cycle. I called the bank customer service and “ due to an unusually high volume of calls” couldn’t get through after very long waits on hold. So I sent an email to that service, might get reply tomorrow if I’m lucky
Anyone else ever had that happen or hear about it happening to any one you know?
Happened to me last month and again this month. I asked my bank and they knew nothing.

Just google the bank …I bet it says they are taking part in the early pay day program ..more and more banks are signing on for it …the employees have no idea about it.

the bank is fronting certain kinds of deposits two days early interest free as a perk to get customers to use their direct deposit

its been over a year since I first posted about it and I still don’t “spend” any of it until that actual 3rd Wednesday. But I’ve got one of those 5 week gaps coming from 11/16 to 12/21. When the dust settles from the election I think I’ll finally contact my congressperson about it.

Both my SS check (4th wk) and my husband's SS check came early, by 3 or 4 days, in both Oct and Nov. Today I received my retirement (TX State) check 3 days early. I would certainly like to know why.

I must be in the minority because I rarely check to see if and when my check was deposited. I was the same way while I was working, once I became salaried I knew what the amount would be and just assumed it would be deposited when it should.

Yes!! I received my check early. I do not know about other recipients banking deposits. Other recipients do not know about my SS deposits. .I would like to reiterate. My check was early. Thanks, I have peace of mind about receiving my check early. Jack

My sister and I have been getting our SS deposited the Friday before the due date on Wednesday.for almost a year now. We are on the third Wednesday of the month. We also have a credit union bank.
What time usually of Friday do you get yours , last month was the first time I received a ss ck and it was also deposited on Friday I didn’t know if it was a mistake or because I was getting it for the first time today is Friday and it is not deposited yet?

My deposits vary a bit, my birth date is the 22nd. of the month so my deposit is usually a few days after that. To my knowledge deposits aren't tied to a specific day of the week or time of day.

I've always gotten mine on the 4th Wednesday of the month and I've been getting SS for 15 years. Sometimes it shows in my account as pending a couple of days before the actual deposit date. @gail

Here in Canada the 2 Federal Pensions are sent to me by electronic means on the 28th of each month. In December the arrival date is ahead of the 25th of the month. About 88 percent of Canadians have opted for the electronic delivery method of payment. The bad old days of seeing dozens of the elderly lined up at the bank, waiting to "cash their cheque " is just about a thing of the past.

The Canada Pension Plan is based on your yearly contributions while you were working, plus an equal amount of contribution each pay period by your employer. The Old Age Pension is available to all citizens and Permanent Residents who are age 65 or older. For the OAP you do not have to have worked in the past, but you do have to have lived in Canada for more than 15 years if you are a P.C. status holder.

Unlike the US Social Security program, the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board invests the money paid in by Canadians into owning things like international industries, marine shipping fleets, gold and silver mines, and international corporations. The Canada Pension Plan is fully funded now until the year 2065, and it is the second largest financial investment group in the world. JimB.

Why the 5th of the month? I imagine it would be hard for them to get all the payments out at the same time.
Maybe in the old days when they had to print and mail paper checks. But not with Direct Deposit. Maybe that's why the old method was created? Because of printing time and they didn't want to overwhelm the post offices every first week of the month?

I get mine a few days early each month. I do direct deposit and my bank explained to me that they do not put a "hold" on the check and put it directly into the bank. When I was working , I always got my paychecks around three days early also when using direct deposit.

I'm getting my first S.S. check in April. It took longer than said 4-5 weeks after application but it's on the way!
I also had a call on my answering machine from "S.S." with a number to call back to discuss my options. First clue-options? The option is I worked and earned the check you are sending me and S.S. has already warned me not to fall for the phone scams going around. I googled the number and yes, Scam Alert! 🐍

The same thing just happened to me, check due Nov 20 arrived on the 1st. Now I'm worried, have no idea when the next one will come. I thought maybe it had something to do with the election, but that seems not to be the case. Can't find any further information online, nothing official from SSA.
