My Stove Went Kaplowey -- Meal Ideas?

Ta da! After six weeks we have a new stainless steel electric stove. Pretty! It took us that long to make ourselves go shopping. Meanwhile I learned how to cook many more things in the microwave, so there was no rush.

I didn't want to buy a lot of things that would clutter up the counter space after the new stove arrived and we no longer needed it, but I did break down and buy a nineteen dollar electric skillet so we could have fried eggs and my vegan son's favorite zucchini skillet dish. Even at $19, I thought it was a waste of money. It seemed to have two heats, scorching and off. That will be going to the local free store place tomorrow.

Because the rest of our appliances are white and not working terribly well we went to H*me Dep*t ready to get a group deal on stainless stove, fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Unfortunately, although no other customers were around, our clerk kept wandering off and was never there to help us find things or answer questions. So we gave up and just bought the stove and we will probably wait for the other things to fail one by one.

What ever happened to aggressive pushy sales people?

What we couldn't have for six weeks: Pasta, casseroles, baked plant based fake things my son eats, macaroni and cheese, cookies, peach cobbler, and ... Boiled corn on the cob! This is one of the main perks of living in Ohio and we hated to miss most of the season.

We're going to eat all that soon and appreciate being able to serve everything hot at once.
Congratulations on your new stove, @Della!

I just bought an air fryer and I can't believe how easy it is to make everything that you'd make in/on a stove. I've even made hard "boiled" eggs and they are better than boiling them on the stove. It doesn't heat up the kitchen, either.

It is always nice when you finally make you go out and find a new major appliance. My double oven went out shortly after my husband passed. It took me 8 months to get out there and find a new one. I still had my son at home to feed. Glad I got it done but it was no where near the quality of my 25 year old oven. Still works but I will be doing more research before I have to get a new one.

My cooktop is having problems, I need to get a new one. First one burnerr stopped heating. Now something has gone haywire and I have to turn it on and off at the breaker box. It is always something LOL. Happy cooking!

Glad you got the new stove! Sorry about that electric skillet thingy.

I hear you on the sales people: When you need them, never around, when you are just browsing and want to be left alone, there's too many of them.
