My town (Nashville) hit with massive Tornado. Death toll at 21 so far

I just got off the phone (cell phone) with my friend in Hendersonville. They had some really bad adverse winds and gusts, but not too much damage on their property. The state police are asking everyone to stay off the roads and clear of the area, so maintenance workers can get their repairs done.

I will pray for the citizens of all the areas that were affected by these rampage of storms.

If anyone cares to donate to help these people to be able to start putting their lives back together, here is the link:

Donate Here

Oldman I can't get that Donate link to open for me.... is there a URL for the donation fund?

I'd like to read more about where the money is going before I randomly donate to many fraudsters around cashing in on disaters..so I just want to ensure this one is legitimate

OH dear God... I can't say anything that hasn't said before Ronni, except to say thank Goodness you and the family are ok, but the heartbreak of losing friend or friends losing relatives must be hard to bear, and the sheer devastation of everyone's properties. This is so shocking...

You're lucky in that Ron and your boys are there to help rebuild and repair..I'm sorry they're in the position to have to do this, but the poor people who are not only going through grief of losing a loved one are also going through the devastation of losing their homes. Absolutely heartbreaking for them..many I'm sure will be ill and or poor and this will affect them even more deeply than younger stronger ones..

The picture of that car blown 3 floors up, is horrific... and really brings home the reality of the speed and strength of the Tornado.

I hope someone will start an online fund for those who are desperately now in need...
Tennessee isn't known as The Volunteer State for nothing!!! There are numerous relief/donation/cleanup efforts around the area. People helping people. Funds set up. Countless of my facebook friends posting that they have an extra room, a couch, plenty of food, hot coffee, and just say the word and they'll come pick up those in need, take them in, help them out, give them a place, clothes, whatever they need. Nashville is amazing in this regard.

My sons and son in law are out there amidst the destruction, giving their time, their money, their support to help people they've never met and don't know ... but it's not just my kids. They're with hundreds of other people who've all come out to help, to do whatever they can, hauling chainsaws to help cut through the wreckage, heavy duty trucks to haul stuff and pull and tow, people showing up with coolers of water for the volunteers, cookies, thermoses of coffee, food...whatever.

The devastation is just wretched, but the outpouring of love and help and support is so uplifting! 💜

Yes, I agree Holly, but I did check it out and I didn't find anything negative about this origination.

This organization accepts donations and then distributes the money to non profits that aides in relief efforts. They basically have done all the leg work and have found the associations that they give the money to is legitimate. I have made an anonymous donation.

It does take awhile for the link to load.

Yes I just read that, it sounds like a great organisation, they're certainly getting on with things very quickly.....thanks again for the link, hopefully with the wonderful help of the volunteers including Ronni's family , friends and neighbours, and the donations through the charity fund, thing will start to roll very quickly..... I feel sick for those people tho',...when you think that people were in bed last night after saying goodnight to their loved ones , or were sat watching tv or out working.. and out of nowhere this tornado has destroyed their lives in minutes..

But, you know, Ronni, it's just not those living in Tennessee. We Americans have always been there when called upon during an emergency. No matter what, no matter where in the world. If we can't physically help, we send supplies, food, temporary shelters, and of course money. Look at the outpouring of charity during 9-11. It's just amazing how Americans respond in time of conflict and emergency.

And, I don't mean to take away anything from other people living in other countries, because I know from being in war myself, that we like having our allies to watch our backs and to help pick us up, if we should fall. No man is an island and having friends across the globe is a great thing. We can always argue and fight about politics, but when things like this come into play, we seem to all want to come together and help out our neighbors.

The areas worst hit sustained winds of 150 - 160 miles an hour. I can't even fathom that. It was traveling at 60 miles an hour, and stayed on the ground for over 45 minutes!!!
I haven't been able to find out how wide the path was?

Ronni, my heart goes out to all affected by this terrible tornado and I'm glad you're okay hope the damage on your property isn't too severe. I haven't watched the news today, but just the photos here on this thread are so intense, scary business. May all who died rest peacefully, my sympathy to their families. :(

Very scary. So glad you are ok. When I lived in Wisconsin, I saw a tornado from afar. Did not come to us. Frightening looking, as if Hell were coming. Can still see it in my mind.
