My truck is up and running!!

I went to pick it up today:) I didn't think auto mechanics existed like my new guys I have here, but my faith is renewed, lol:) My truck was ready, owed 438 total, and told him as I did in the beginning, I had 300 saved, and by the time he said he'd have it done, I knew I'd have the balance;) So when we talked this a.m. I was thrilled to know it was done, but my check didn't come today (SS retirement dough), so I told him I would have the total on Tuesday, and was it ok for my truck to stay at their shop until then? He said yes, perfectly fine, but didn't I need my truck? I was a bit surprised, but said "well, it would be nice to have it but I am doing ok". He told me I could come get my truck:) I then told him I had the 300 and gave him that today, and the rest on Tuesday. Super amazing, to me, in this day and age. He also knew I was at a shelter, and knows nothing about me.

I just think I'm blessed, again. It is to rain all through the weekend, and I know how it is now to be on foot, although I did at least have the hope of getting my truck back where some have nothing:(. We have Sunday and Monday we have to stay out 8 hours each day, very hard on the sick and crippled. I'm going to try to give as many rides as I can but I hope I won't be asking too much if I let them know I need any help they can give with gas. If someone doesn't have it Ill help anyway but I spent all I had except 20 bucks, and I do have gas. The buses do NOT run at all over this weekend starting tomorrow, and no libraries open. No shelter I can think of at all. I don't know, but I feel I was blessed with that truck and gonna help. A few have friends, relatives, or even enough for a motel room. They are mostly like me and still very "low" income.

It is going to be a good weekend though. We still get breakfast, and dinner everyday at 5 (dinner) and back to our beds;)

I found pictures I'd never seen yesterday, mounted at one of the libraries. I have some as good, but would need to have them enlarged and framed/mounted. I am going to find what I think is the best one I have, give it a go, and think I can get someone to try to sell it on consignment. I would so love to do what I love, and make a few bucks. I do have Soooooooooo much yet to learn though;)

Talk to you all soon, with love, denise

Super news about the Truck Denise, thank goodness you have it especially for the w/e when everything is closed and you would have nowhere to go out of the rain. Some really decent people around.

Incidentally why is everything closed this weekend in your area?

Memorial Day Holly:) Whoops, Jim beat me to it, anyway, thanks for the congrats you guys, I gotta run soon but anyone else having a holiday, wishing you a good rest, although I know some will be mourning loved ones. Might heart goes out to you, denise

Denise, So glad you got your truck back and running!
Sometimes things do work out right and there are some good people around.
Good to hear from you and it would be great if you could sell some of the photos
you have. You have a flair for taking interesting and beautiful pictures.

It's great you got your truck out of the hospital. Make sure you have at least property damage and public liability on it or you'll end up with more grief.

I've got just the minimum Jim, but intend on going to my office here and asking how much to get me more coverage. Enough to maybe give me some dough to buy another vehicle. Is that public liability. Right now I have insurance that covers the other folks if I hit them, but not sure. Another thing I have not payed enough attention too, so yes, I will check it out, thanks for the heads-up;) denise

That`s not public liability you`re talking about Denise-that would be collision coverage. Then you would havea deductible to think about-at least $250.00 but most likely $500.00 Might not be worth it on a vehicle the age of yours. It`s that darn gray area where you NEED that truck but it could cost you an awful lot to insure it for collision. Glad to hear you have it back though! BTW-I think we both get "paid" the same day,so that will be Wednesday. Always Wednesday.....

Hi, Denise, always nice to hear from you. As rough as it has been for you, it still sounds like you're gradually making progress - bit by bit - and your great attitude inspires others to help you as the mechanic did. Try to stay dry and happy and keep on truckin' ! :)

Good to hear that you got your truck back Denise, sounds like you're doing okay, I'm glad you're keeping your spirits up! :eek:nthego:

Denise, I am so glad to hear that you have the little Mazda back up and running again. They are just the best little trucks, and usually so dependable.
I agree with Mrs. Robinson about the collision coverage for the truck. When it is older; then with the deductible, you might be spending a lot for extra coverage that won't do a lot of good.
I just have the required amount of liability coverage on my old Ford stationwagon, too. If someone hits me; then it is their insurance that pays, plus I have uninsured motorist, just in case someone hits me that does not have insurance (even though it is required to have insurance here).

So, the only way that I am actually not covered is if I am the cause of the accident, and then the liability only pays for the other guy's vehicle. In that case, I would either have to try and fix it if the damage was not bad, or buy another clunker if mine was totalled.
Full coverage costs a lot more usually; so if you just start setting money aside for emergency, then if you did have to replace the truck, you would at least have some money towards getting another vehicle.
