My wife had a heart attack

Thursday, March 7, my wife got up with the classic symptoms of a heart attack, pain and pressure in her chest, severe pain in her right arm and jaw. I gave her nitro and aspirin and called an ambulance.

They took her to the local hospital in Clarksville and then she was sent by ambulance to Mercy hospital in Fort Smith. After several hours in the emergency room she was admitted yo the hospital and went to a room.

I was sitting beside her when about 1:30 am she was feeling better because of the drugs they had given her and fussing to go home. I was telling her it was the middle of the night and she would have to wait until her cardiologist, Doctor Mehl came to see her in the morning.

Suddenly she had another attack and just dropped dead. I mean I was looking at her dead body. Before I could even holler for help alarms started going off and two nurses rushed in followed by half a dozen more. More people rushed in and I saw them put a board under her and this big man jumped on the bed and started CPR.

Several people grabbed me by the arm and pulled me from the room. They brought her back to life. She didn't know she had been dead, of course, so when she came to she thought she was being attacked. She was trying to fight them off, bit one of the nurses, and was screaming for me to git my gun because these people are trying to murder me.

She's home now, still sore but alive. Seeing her die right before my eyes really scared the hell out of me. I don't want to ever see that again.

I'm so thankful to the hospital crew who knew what to do and did it. They are my heroes.

A truly terrifying experience for you both rkunsaw, my best wishes to you both, and I hope your wife make a good recovery

Terrifying for you to watch, and even more so to have to go through the physical trauma...just horrible for you both, but thank God you had the presence of mind to get her to the hospital as quickly as you did..

BTW what is Nitro.. ?

Larry, thanks for sharing this with us,glad to hear your wife is still with us
I'll keep her and you in my nightly prayers, she continues to get better with each passing day

Like CeeCee, my heart dropped when I read that she'd died!!!!

I'm so glad she is home now, and doing OK. What a scary thing!

Larry, I'm so glad they were able to revive her, and she's back at home now. I wish her well and hope she feels better soon and recovers. My heart sank also when you said she died, thank goodness it was temporary. Thoughts are with you both.

OMG! That would scare the crap out of anyone. She was in the best place to be with what was going on with her. How fortunate that you were there at home and got her to the hospital. Too many people have gone, "Oh, it will pass."

And she is home? Did they do a heart catheterization or an ultrasound on the carotid arteries to see if she has any blockages? Just curious.

What a horrifying ordeal that was Larry. I never heard of Code Blue staff jumping on the bed to do CPR after shoving a board under her. Don't those beds lower (and mattress deflates)with a quick touch of a CPR button or lever? Well, it doesn't matter because he got the job done...good for him and all of the First Responder staff!

I'm so very sorry for this terrifying experience you both suffered! I hope your wife recovers quickly.

Good thing you had the presence of mine to give her the nitro and aspirin. I am pretty sure my husband would not.

Yes, they did the heart catheterization. The blockage was in a small vein, too small for a stent. Doctor thinks she'll be fine with medication.

Best Wishes and speedy recovery to your wife.

Watch your health as well. Don't need double trouble.
