Name something ,That your Mother or Grandma cooked, that was your Favourite !!

There's so much! Apple fritters hot out of the pan, potato pancakes, my dad's regular pancakes, mom's meatloaf, mom's potato salad, stuffed cabage. The longer I think on it the more I could come up with.

Those are also foods I never make for myself so maybe I just miss them.

Grandma always made a pineapple upside down cake for my birthday that was just for me. She also made be best soft buttermilk sugar cookie-that was cake like with icing. I still make both today for my kids.

She also made a dish with cube steak she browned & then slow cooked with some beef broth until tender. She added peas/carrots to it along with egg noodles & sour cream.

my grandmother (mom's mom) was in w.va. and I liked pretty
much everything, but cannot remember a specific dish...dad's mom was not around, that is she had no stable home sorta
drifted between families to live...so she never cooked for us...
Mom made baked apple dumplings to die for, and also date
pudding that we all loved.....

Not my favourite: Pound Cake I wanted a "real" cake with lots of icing and decorations; now I crave a "REAL" pound cake (made with a pound of butter, pound of flour and a pound of sugar)
I didn’t know why this was called pound cake but my mom made this also and like most kids I wanted the junky cake with fluffy icing.

Pound cake seems to be more of an adult cake. Some was used for the trifle which would soak up the sherry and sometimes brandy. Then it had a real kick to it. I miss my mom.

My grandma was a culinary wizard. She could make delicious dishes from ordinary staples. Homemade pasta, breads, tomato sauce, soups—oh, God.

Some of my favorites would be Minestra, Cioppino, Fried Calamari, Linguine in Crab Sauce, Easter Bread, and Frappe.

My mother was also a fabulous cook. I loved her chicken soup, linguine with clams, sautéed spinach with olive oil, and garlic.

That's the short list! 🙃😊

Easter Bread
Here’s a traditional Easter Bread recipe that’s not only easy to make but tastes absolutely delicious too! This holiday bread is the classic one you’re probably craving this very moment and definitely looking to make for Easter.

Funny story. My Gram's chicken and dumplings were an event when I was a kid.

After I got married, my wife decided she was going to learn how to make them.

Well, the first pot ended with one large goopy dumpling bubbling on the top and my wife, with tears in her eyes, saying "I did something wrong."

But, after many, many, batches of dumplings ending up in various sizes, shapes and consistencies, she hit on it about 25 years ago.

I am now happy to say my wife's chicken and dumplings are an event.
I tried making home made dumplings once. They turned out like hockey pucks. Bisquick is the way to go for me!

My mother, poor soul, couldn't cook to save her life, but she did make a couple of things that were edible...baked cabbage was one of them. The other was called corn sausage pie. No kidding. A recipe she found in a newspaper shortly after the war. Mostly, our meals were gray. You read that right. Gray! She'd put everything in the pressure cooker, and it almost always came out gray. Except spaghetti sauce. Pressure cooker, spaghetti sauce...um...we spent a lot of time washing spaghetti sauce off the kitchen ceiling.

My paternal grandmother? Everything she made was delicious, but I especially remember hot cross buns at Easter.

My maternal grandmother? Almost everything she made was delicious, too, except oyster stew. I hated oyster stew.

My maternal grandma wasn't known for her cuisine, but my mom was an excellent cook (go figure). The first think I thought about was the fluffy peach rice pudding she made. I can never have that again! She had a large cookbook collection, but I seldom saw her refer to one. She could whip up almost anything from scratch.
