Hazel has actually become very popular the past few years. Someone I know just had a baby last week and named her Hazel. It became popular a few years ago when Julia Roberts named her baby girl Hazel.
 

When I first became a State Policeman, my first assigned barracks was run by a fellow named Earl, but we called him Sergeant, not Sarge and certainly not Earl.

Lester...he was a scary looking guy in high school that liked me. I was always nice to him because he didn't have any friends but was harmless, smart, and kind. He had shiny jet black hair, lots of acne, and quite large. He lived in my neighborhood and it was often just the two of us at the bus stop.

My maternal grandmother was Sarah and one of our grand-daughters is Sarah Grace. Named for her great-great grandmother (Sarah) and my mom (her great grandmother) Grace.

Someone else mentioned Milton as a name that was slipping away. My dad's name, but yes, I don't hear it often these days.

Though Sarah is an old name, it still seems to be current. My little granddaughter is also Sarah; she's a toddler.

Julia is another name that has vanished! Good thing Robert didn't name her kid Jerk-O Fat Bottom.:)
 
My mom's mom was Pearl, & my mom had a sister named Mildred .

On my dad's side his mom was Bertha, & his dad Howard, his brother was Ferdinand.

All just about unheard these days.
 
Names for people we don't use anymore??? Let's see - - - -, uh, - - - They might be called: Obsolete, anachronistic, useless, unemployable, incompetent, inept, etc., etc., etc. The op has shown himself/herself to really have a way with words. I guess this thread was supposed to be about: Proper names that are no longer given to infants, at birth.
