NASA presentation on sea level rise and the Greenland ice sheet

I cannot watch things like this... I am convinced of global warming... I am sure that our human endeavors have caused or greatly contributed to it. BUT ... It distresses me too much to watch these documentaries, and feel so helpless as an individual to do anything... SO.. all I can do is my small part as miniscule as it is, but more importantly to continue to vote for the party that is trying to do something about it. That's all I can do.. But thanks for posting it and hopefully some of the climate deniers will watch and change their minds.

I'm watching it as an insight into the work of scientists. I actually feel that if I had my time over again I would love to have been part of this work. I was fascinated by geology as a student but there was few opportunities for a young woman at that time.

I certainly do not deny that there is a possibility for global warming, as there has been such for over millions of years apparently. Lets see about this. 15 years ago we were preparing for global cooling when suddenly it changed to global warming. How much warming have we had so far. A degree C maybe. Still justifying their efforts. Maybe before long another cooling scare will take over and the ice bergs will return again. Just like over thousands or millions of years before. Not so long ago it was Greenland's turn to be warm. But that has been true for ages.

So what is to be tomorrow, or soon? Should be dig out our parkas and be ready for much more cold returning?

I find it easier to read than watch videos...ADD and hard of hearing, but a fascinating subject. I believe the projection is something like in 100 years or less, Florida and California will basically cease to exist...well if the "big one" earthquake doesn't take out CA first. I was reading a book last night about the scientific and engineering history that led up to Katrina. Sobering stuff but it spells out clearly how basically powerless we are as humans.

They would take core samples every whatever feet, didn't do a lot of good as they might miss a whole mile the consistency of Play Dough. Then one group of engineers made levees with projected protection. That is it was all that funding to protect uninhabited land that might some time have infrastructure if not homes. Then projects were done in different decades so some became in need of repair as others were being built.

By the time Katrina came Louisiana was basically sitting in a huge ceramic soup bowl with glued cracks and sand bags shoring up the sides. We can't keep our heads in the sand about this stuff, Al Gore was right on target.
