I can’t watch stuff like this either without feeling like upheaving. It might be considered fun and exciting but I find it really disgusting.
Suppose the store gives the food to the homeless. Suppose one of them becomes ill as a result of it. You don't need to suppose what comes next: homeless bum sues store. In the process, the store gains an undeserved bad reputation and goes out of business.I'm with those that thinks it's a disgusting waste. These 'eating' contests could feed a lot of homeless.
It's not just a disgusting waste but literally will be a 'waste' because I doubt the competitors will garner little to no nutrition from their feast.
But when I see trays of aging but not bad food thrown away on a daily basis in convenience stores especially this shouldn't be a surprise.
I don't watch the contest but find it fascinating how they can shove the food in so fast. It got me to thinking what food I could consume in large quantities,of course I could never win a contest but I came up with two. I could hold my own for a little while eating watermelon. I just love red, ripe, cold watermelon. The second would be broiled mild fish like cod.
